Was playing with a lad today who can drive a ball up to 375yrd long on a good day , and today i saw him hitting the ball i can honestly think he could . bloody amazing when he gets it straight , but if it goes wrong and it did a couple off time it goes WRONG

Any other BIG hitters on here

my average 200-250yrds

He doesn't go by the monicker Timgolf does he. Frankly I'm always suspicious of these claims and usually whenever we've measured "300 yards for sure drives" using sky caddy etc they are at least 20 yards down on that. He might hit 300 + in the summer with lots of roll and COULD hit 375 downhill but even Bubba and the really long guys don't usually pop them that far. Doubtful I'd say

Its all depends....

I have hit as long as 360yds, on a down hill part 4/5 (stilton golf course hole 15 & 17)

On a nice flat hole ill avg around 280/300 (maybe a little more on a hot summers day).

The problem with hitting that far is i dont tend to find the fairway, most long hitters find this, sometimes 250yds and on the fairway is better the 300+ and behind the tree.

My 12 year old son hits around 180/200yrds with the big stick.

My mates boy whos 16 gives it a real ride. hes off around 1.5. Last week he carried a trap which we lasered at a carry of 309.

I feel old playing with him now! I can nail it about 280 with roll included! But probably average 260 odd.

Sorry to sound sceptical, but I don't believe you!

I am not a short hitter, and on a good summer's day when the fairways are firm with lots of roll if there's a following breeze I can nudge it up to around the 300 yard mark, sometimes slightly more. But generally speaking I'm out around the 250-260 yard mark, and that's if I'm hitting the ball well.

But now let's get this into some sort of perspective. It's November, the air temperature is hovering around the low teens, and today it felt considerably cooler because of a stiff easterly breeze. The ground is soft meaning much less run on the ball. I would wager conditions are pretty similar throughout the UK, meaning that most of us aren't getting it out anywhere near as far as we do in July.

And this guy is hitting it 340 yards? In what circumstances? Downhill with a stiff breeze at his back I may just be tempted to accept it, but even then I would take some convincing.

There's some big hitters out there, and maybe he's one of them. Is his 375yds on a dry, warm day with running fairways? There's a huge difference to what we can all do depending on the conditions, and of course connecting with a good swing. I've driven some 300+yd par 4's but with running fairways and a following breeze. In all honesty, this time of year I'm happy to hit anything near 240-250yds, and I can hit a decent ball. An amatuer, who's a bit wild, knocking it 125+yds past me... its possible but...

he's probably in the trees....

Ah... I miss those lazy, crazy days argueing with TimGolfy as to the merits of hitting it long vs hitting it in the fairway.......Not!
As Hawkeye will no doubt remember, at the last Ascot meet, he pipped me for longest drive. His measured at 275 mine at 273. So we can hit a ball. And it was warm and the fairways running.
I have hit 320 yards slightly downhill but with a 25mph wind behind.

Under normal conditions 280 is long.

I hit 300 at least twice yesterday .....PERFECT SWING AND FOLLOW THROUGH looked amazing.....still didnt get it past the ladies tee.... we are talking cm's aint we :o

I'd rather hit my normal 225ish and play the next off the fairway.Having said that we have one hole 390yrd downhill all the way. Well more like down mountain really. In the summer you can drive it with a 5 wood.
