Longest Day Golf Challenge

Looks like something that could be quite a challenge, I'm thinking of trying to get some friends together to see if they'll be up for this. Anyone here have any experiences of this?

Its a great event for a great cause but its really not that hard. We did 4 different courses in the area in the day and were done by about 8pm (teed off about 4am).

I've looked into doing 4 courses in 4 countries in a day, that would be fun

If you had the cash, you could start in New Zealand and just fly backwards through the time zones

My wifes Grandfather just passed away, he had cancer twice throughout his life so would be great to be able to raise some funds for the charity and in his memory. I'm not usually someone who subscribes to these charitable acts, I'd just donate by myself, but this charity event has really caught my attention.

I viewed it as an excuse to play golf all day, whilst raising money for a good cause.

I've looked at England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland (not in that order). Other options would be Belgium, Germany, France, England

I don't think that they'll give you the rounds for free (unless you're a full member). I'm only a flexi member at my club so get discount rates, but I don't think I'll have to pay for 4 rounds though. I'll check with them on Saturday when I'm there again and see what they say.

Worst case just pay the 'day' rate most places offer. Theres no limit on rounds played?

MY mate Kraxx who sometime post in here, did it last year at Hexham GC, think he teed off at something like 05:00hrs finished the last 20:00hrs or 21:00hrs somewhere around there.

I've done it the last 3 years - starting at 6am and finished by 9pm

And not being a member of a club myself, i approached a local club who gave me and the other 3 players all four rounds for free -every year so far

This year - we've got 8 players and mixing it up slightly to play a ryder cup style 4v4 - this will be the first year we're not raising money for MacMillan however.

Good advice there Big D. I'm going to speak to my club on Saturday when I'm next there (was hoping to play tomorrow morning) and see if they'll accommodate me and a few mates.

Where we're playing has two courses so will alternate between the two. They've been supportive and given us reduced rates.

My club only has 1 course, plus a Par 3 Academy course. So will be 4 rounds on the same course. Or maybe 3 rounds on the 18 and 2 on the Par 3. Will still see what they say on Saturday when I'm there.

Yep, did it a couple of years ago. Top tips:

- Change socks after each round.
- Change shoes after each round (or alternate pairs).
- Wear something that wont chafe!
- If rain is forecast try and have a fresh dry outfit to change in to after each round
- Use an electric trolley and borrow the extra batteries.
- Snack during round but don't just eat sugary snacks/drink energy drinks.
- Stop after 36 holes for a shower and a proper meal (but don't eat so much that you want a nap!).

Really useful thread and was going to post in the near future asking for tips etc. How accommodating were other golfers on the course for letting you play through to prevent hold ups?

I'm doing this with 3 pals next month. Doing at the course I was a member at, they have given us reduced rounds, pre-booked tee times and have sent us a menu to pick from so food will be ready. Really looking forward to it!
