Long stick gap

my clubs by order of distance go; driver, 3 wood, 7 wood (20.5deg), 5 iron etc...

I feel that the gap between the 7 wood and 5 iron may be too much?? Could be partly because im not too confident with a full throttle 5 iron nor a gentle 7 wood...

Ive been looking at 4 hybrids but im worried itll be too similar to the 7 wood?? any ideas?

Have a look around and see if you can find a 4 hybrid with 23 or 24 degrees of loft and a similar steel shaft to your irons. Cleveland did a 23* Launcher a few years back(09) and it was available with a steel shaft. I had one and it was just like having a 4 iron.
What you're really missing is a 4 iron but if that's too tricky then the 4h is the better bet. A steel shaft will mean it won't go as far as it would with a graphite shaft - longer/lighter - and will feel more like your irons but be easier to hit.

As a 7 wood user myself Jim I think you do need as Imurg says a hybrid or 4 iron to fill the gap. And on a windy day you probably don't want the high ball flight that the 7 wood gives you so a choke down hybrid is a much better shot.

There is as much of a gap between your 3 wood and 7 wood, assuming your 3 wood is 15 degrees.

think ill keep my eye out for a 4h then!! got bid out of one on ebay last night. Silly mistake i knew bidding with 20secs left would leave be open to getting sniped...

Yeah, i know theres a bit of a gap between the 3 and 7 wood. Currently it doesnt bother me. Maybe becasue at my course i havent really needed a club to fill that gap (unless i scuff one off the tee..)

I would have first asked what are the distances you are hitting these clubs. I have only 10 yards between my irons, but then it gets upto about 20 between the longer clubs. Personally I don't have an issue with that gap as its rare i would be expecting pinpoint accuracy over those distances.

I also carry 3 wood then a 7 wood. Bloody hate these stupid hybrid things, cant get to grips with them or feel comfortable with them at all.

7 wood 200 yards
4 iron 185 yards

Works well for me.

Been to a few shops looking for used (or reduced) hybrids but being a lefty its nigh on impossible it seems!!
