Are lithium batteries (for leccy trolley) worth the extra cost? Battery on my motocaddy is dying again and time to either by a new battery or maybe even a new trolley.

Motocaddy currently offering a free bag if you buy a lithium battery version, just not sure whether its worth the extra cost

I don't really understand the logic of Lithium batteries on a golf trolley. The only advantage i can see is,that they are smaller and lighter, but we don't carry the trolley,so whats the point ?

Maybe so,but check the price difference between a standard sealed lead acid, and a lithium. It would need to last a lifetime for me,at that sort of cost.
Some people are saying they get anywhere between 2 and 4 years service from a £60 yuasa lead acid battery, thats being used 2 or 3 times a week,if thats the case,i can't see the attraction with a lithium, but if you do decide to go down the lithium route,i'd be interested to hear your views on performance and longevity.

If buying a motocaddy currently then the gap is a lot smaller price wise than normal, £500 v £330 so £170 more but currently get a free pro series bag for free, so closes the gap to sub £100

The reason I ask is the current battery I have is 2 weeks outside its 1 year guarantee and is only holding a part charge.

Not sure I can bring myself to spending the extra, will let you know if i do.

The one advantage with lithium is it doesn't hold a "memory" from what I can remember, so charging cycles shouldn't be an issue. Having said that I have a standard lead acid battery and it is now knocking on 4 years old and will still manage 36 holes.

I bought a cheap aftermarket cyclic lead acid a few years ago,it was charged exactly how it should be after every use,yet only lasted 13 months with one or two rounds use a week.I guess the old saying "buy cheap buy twice" rings true in this instance.

WASTE OF MONEY , SPEND IT ELSE WHERE , its not worth the extra cost , i got a new trolley but i just choose to buy a standard battery with it

Just got a new Motocaddy S1 with lithium battery -too soon to comment on longevity but charges quickly, light and fits even when the trolley is folded, so less space in the car. Worth it? - I don't know, but I still wince when I think about it. ;)
