The trouble is some of the fake stuff is so hard to tell it its real or not.
I made a post quite a while back now regarding the R7 driver we bought for my cousin which was a fake(its a long story which ive told before).
If i buy from ebay i only use a couple of sellers whom i know are genuine.

After we were stung for the r7 i vowed that id only buy from a shop where i could be sure it wasn't dodgy.

I suppose though for the unsuspecting punter it's easy to end up buying a fake.

To be honest I will only ever deal in buying 2nd hand clubs from e-bay as feel i'm much less likely to get stung.

As has been mentioned on here before if a deal appears "too good to be true" then it's probably worth avoiding.

I'd much rather the peace of mind paying a bit more for a club from my local Pro knowing for certain that it's 100% genuine.

Check this out, and Ebay are letting them do it!!!

To be honest Parmo they are being advertised as clones and not being passed off as the real dael so i dont a problem with this

I couldn't disagree more. These are not clones .. THEY ARE FORGERIES FAKES AND MUST BE ILLEGAL.

A clone is something that is a generic copy of an item without the brand markings or anything that will lure customers.

The Skymax square driver is a clone of the FT-i but has been coloursed and branded in Skymax colours.

The real problem comes when you've been playing brilliantly with a club then you find out it's fake! Then you start to think you really are being ripped off for name brands. i think we all suffer brand snobbery.
I got a Scotty putter recently on Ebay, price was too good and sure enough it was a fake, got a full refund thankfully, seller had 100% feedback and genuinely didn't know it was fake but I should've known better really - very good copy but a few giveaways here and there.

Item on the news this morning that buyers of fakes (from markets) may get fined as well as the seller. Can you see this extending into other arenas - ebay?

Doh

These are advertised as clones which they are not.

Clones are clubs based on the design of the original, retaining similar styling details and measurements, however clones do not carry the same branding as the real item.

These have all the branding and as such, they are nothing short to dirty-snides.

I have no problem with clones, these however I do have a problem with as they are obvious forgeries. I am an ebay powerseller and have reported this guy to the priority customer service team.

The R7 which i was conned with did not resemble the real thing in any way whatsoever. We also did not get a penny back by paypal or even the mrs credit card company. They pulled off the perfect scam for one weekend and made an absolute fortune.

Just to say this is not a clone its is an illegal fake which Ebay is allowing to be sold, clones use the same shaft, head & grip and are put together by the independent company with a different name, they also are very good, where as fakes are not and Ebay should be fined for allowing people to adviertise as fakes, mind you it just shows that Ebay do not have a clue.

no wonder the pictures are all shakey. The guy selling them is pissing himself laughing at the thought of some daft bugger actually paying hard earned brass for them he can't hold the camera steady.

Maybe we should take it on ourselves to rid the internet of fake golf gear. I reported this so called Scotty Cameron Newport to ebay earlier.

Look at the colour of the red on the hosel - that should be the same red as the dot on the back of the putter, not maroon as this fake. Also the grip has 2 white dots on it, also look at`the face, a real newport has slightly different coloured metal on the face insert. Also no headcover or divot tool. Fed up with these schisters with 100% feedback selling fake Scotties for a fortune - time to bring them down, bring them down to Chinatown!!
