Just waiting for my better half to get home from work (poured a gin in readiness) and thought I would look at a couple of local courses on Google Earth. Great facility to measure a line. Hole length seems to have been done:
1. Tee to BACK of green
2. Elevation i.e. distances up and down hill on hole seems to have been taken into account.
I sort of expected no 1 above but only the holes that are flatish are accurate. I suppose that elevated holes are, therefore, shorter given that a driver irons out the elevation
There - that'll give you something to mull over while you are waiting to tee off tomorrow!
