Folk, working in 'hospitality', often have to make up for any 'shortfalls' at the end of a session including having taken any 'wrong uns'...
Can you blame English retail units from not wanting to take Scottish notes?
Many don’t like taking £50 notes simply because of forgery issues, so is it any surprise that rarely seen Scottish notes may not always be taken?
Best answer would be to just abandon separate Scottish notes, I mean we all are supposed to be a United Kingdom................
Not being anything. I’m not a “little englander†or come to that a “snp die hardâ€Now now, don't be mishchievous. Surely you don't want rid of Bank of England notes too? United Kingdom after all![]()

I take the view we are a United Kingdom, and as such should have a Bank Of UK.
Of course, if those north of the border wish to have their solo way, then stuff it and keep the BoE, so Scottish notes will be as useable as the Euro is.
Why is that so wrong?
I sold a car to a guy in Glasgow who flew down to collect it, i paid the 6 grand into my bank (all Scottish twenties) and they insisted it goes on hold for a week as they had to send the cash to be checked by their counterfeit team, took a week for it to clear!
You were brave. I would not have accepted £6k in cash with notes issued by any bank, English or Scottish. What would have happened if they had been counterfeit? Presumably you were stuffed.
i knew where he lived, I wouldn't be afraid to go up there and get it! In my best berkshire accent in the mean suburbs of Glasgow, 'excuse me sir, have you seen mad dog dave, he owes me some money'
LOL, i actually didnt even think about it, was young and naive!
Thats exactly what it's about. Many businesses don't accept cash payment above a certain amount irrespective of who's printed the notes...
Fairly certain last time we purchased a vehicle we were specifically told no more than £2000 in cash...
Guessing it's about money 'laundering'...
