Please tell me if I have missed something but what is the Leeds Cup?

The oldest professional golf competition in the world.

It's at my course, so took my camera down for the finals. I think it's a northern thing - not a huge competition.

Some good pics, played Leeds Golf Club a couple of times, and again on Tuesday afternoon if all goes well.

I'd leave it a week or so to be honest. We've just had the greens cored and verti-drained, so aren't in the best shape.

Although £25/round with tea sandwich and 2 course meal is a steal.

1902 ?.....

In 1860 Prestwick Golf Club staged an event for leading professionals. This developed into The Open. So in 1860 if there were "leading professionals" then there must have been other professional events played ??

The oldest trophy.I see that George Logan from Seahouses has won this event....I am 99.9% certain that he was never a Pro,he was EGU and Northumberland President,I take it is open to Amatuers too then or was he a Pro....??
