Leccy Trolleys

When I play with those with older trolleys, without this feature, it just reminds me how useful it is.

When approaching the green, I can send the trolley to the back of the green, while I myself walk to my ball to putt out. And when finished, I can walk off the back of the green, and on to the next tee. This saves time. I wouldn't call it lazy, more conveniant.

Otherwise you park it at the front, and have to go back for it, or, you take it to the back first and then walk back. This is slow.

I am not sure where 'lazy' comes into it.

I have not mentioned in this thread what trolley I have either, as the OP was about function, not make.
 
Was playing at Royal Eastbourne one day, two old dears in front with powakaddies, one of which had the "send it on its way" function.
She sent it on it's way alright......straight across the fairway and into a bunker that wouldn't have looked out of place on the Old Course.
Did I laugh?????

I have just got a Trojan 250 sport from golfonline for £199 with free delivery, it comes with the bag to keep it in and 2 year warranty. I have only used it once but it sailed around the course, was quiet, simple and did the job. Great piece of kit.

When I see four of them standing on our 138yd par 3 10th tee waiting to knock off in front of us and they've all got drivers in their hands I can't help thinking......"bugger".


Playing yesterday I watched one of them oink off the 7th. 124yd par 3. Elevated tee, green sits some 30 yards below. Club....................................................???

careful. the ladies golf police will come and nick the wheels off your GoKart. You'll find the poor little thing propped up on bricks whimpering in your garage.
 
I very nearly went for a gokart but had to be honest with myself that I was mainly buying it because of the price. I've played with someone with the motocaddy send 20 yards feature etc and it really did seem useful. Maybe it's just the layout of our course but he was able to use it about 8 or 9 times. If you want the cheaper option gokart looks unbeatable, bit for me the other features available will be worth saving a bit longer and getting the one I want.
 
Thanks for all the opinions, and for the comedy moments of letting it run on. I knew there'd be a few good stories.

I think I've decided on GoKart if I don't want the feature, but can anyone recommend a make (especially for reliability) if I do want the feature?
Not bothered about distance measuring or anything else extra like that.
 
I only got an electric trolley in the first place because the tiredness my diabetes was causing me was having a huge impact on my game. I'd rather be carrying if I could! I still can't see the point of the distance control button though. We have white lines where trolleies have to go round the edge of greens and backs of bunkers so everyone has to follow the same paths. I just park opposite the flag, walk on and putt out and then leave it adjacent to the next tee box.

I'm sure some of these women are eventually going to get accessories like furry dice etc for their trollies and heaven help them in winter. Some of ours were positively preening every speck of dirt of them tonight. Its great when you have four of them in one group. Its like watching a geriatric version of the red arrows as they split in formation to different parts of the course
 
Well, yesterday I went shopping having decided I was going to get a Motocaddy S3. All the plans went out of the window in the shop and I ended up getting the Hillbilly Terrain.
Whether it was spin or not I don't know, but the guy in the shop said they have more Motocaddy's back with battery problems than the other 2 makes they sell, so I went for the Hillbilly. Only time will tell if I made the right choice or not.

I took it with me for a game yesterday afternoon. Obviously I hadn't had time to charge the battery so I just used it as a normal trolley, and it reminded me why I always used to carry my clubs even though the strap (old 1 strap bag) would dig into my bony shoulder by the fifth hole. Instead of my back (or shoulder) hurting, my calves felt like they were on fire after a few gentle slopes. Can't wait to try it out with the battery on.

While I was in there I tried a few putters out (like you do), and one inparticular felt really good so I asked what they'd give me for my Bettinardi. "£80". The TM one I liked was £80 so we swapped, very happy with that.
Even happier when I 1-putted the first 6 greens in the afternoon, just a shame only 1 of them was for a birdie. Still, it gives me hope that I might be able to eventually be half decent on the greens. :)

A friend of mine has the Hillbilly. Gotta admit that it's as solid as anything, well anything that's built like a Chieften tank anyway!

Yes, it's heavy compared to the GoKart, and doesn't fold up as small. But if these things aren't important to you then I reckon you've got a solid machine there. Also it doesn't squeek like my GoKart does sometimes! But for £200, I can't complain.

I was looking at the Hill Billy and thought the same. I got the GoKart but they seem to be dragging their feet with the brolley holder and other bits they tease people with, I might even pass the GoKart to the wife and buy a Hill Billy terrain for myself.
 
I did look at the hillbilly and steered clear of motocaddy which have got a bad reputation amongst a lot of people I've talked with. It seems if you get a good one then you'll not have any problems but if you get one that is a wrong un then it seems that lots of different faults occer. Bit like cars really. You can buy one and never have nay issues and get a brand new one from the showroom and it is in and out of the garage.

The hillbilly is definitely robust and built to last and isn't a bad piece of kit. However I had concerns about how small it folded up and with only a Fiesta boot and the price tag compared to go-kart swung it in favour of the latter
 
The question is, how much use is the feature that lets you press a button and have the trolley carry on for 10/20/30 yards?

This is my favourite feature on powered trolleys. I don't own one but am deeply envious when I see trolleys already on their way to the next place. Point and press.....love it.

The guys at mine get to the green, pull out the putter and send the trolley to the next tee. Saves going back to your trolley if you send it off at the right angle when you reach the front of the green.
 
I was in AG last week and overheard the salesman telling a punter that powerkaddy make most of the parts for Hill Billy, so he should buy the cheaper Hill Billy rather than PK. Not sure if thats true but thought there must be something in it as he was persuading the guy to buy the cheaper trolley.

Not wishing to be too cynical....AG "appear" to push the brands that they know have the biggest profit margin.

As for the idea....could be? Wouldn't surprise me. I've seen cheap ebay trolleys that look and work like all the big brands.
 
I wanted to buy one but my wife said I should stick with learning to drive the car first, which I thought was a little cynical. Two weeks ago I saw a lady with a remote control trolley have a runaway, which kind of put it all into perspective for me. Hope the recession hasnt hit Santa and he is kind this year.
