I don't understand this hate for bi cyclists.
With a few simple modifications bi cycles would be safe for the road. Some side protection. Some pedestrian crumple zones, and perhaps a couple more wheels for stability. A few extra seats to make more use of the road space, perhaps a roof to keep the rain off? Of course, adding all this weight would require and engine, but what harm is that?
