Channel migrant deported to France under Sir Keir Starmer’s “one in, one out” scheme has returned to the UK on a small boat.

The man, who wants to claim asylum in the UK, is being held in an immigration detention centre.

He is understood to have been identified as soon as he arrived back in Britain, after having his biometric details taken before his deportation

I imagine he will be transferred from the immigration detention centre to a deportation centre.
I'm afraid I completely miss the reason to laugh.
I don't believe the French authorities keep such a person under lock-and-key when they are returned to France. Perhaps they should.
But UK gov has no jurisdiction in France. It is entirely up to French gov what they do with returnees.
