Picked up grandson today and went straight into town to drop off three large bin liners full of Missis T clothes at the British Heart foundation shop. Missis T was sat in car whilst I went in, dropped off bags and registered said items 2-3 mins tops. As I am walking out, one of the staff said you have a parking ticket. As I gets outside a lovely parking warden is writing out my ticket.
I explained what I had done as had Missis T and she said she would support my application to appeal. I did not know whether to laugh or cry.

If you parked to offload and weren't doing anything else, on double yellows, she shoudnt have given a ticket - is my understanding, absolutely appeal!

There was no yellow lines it is a large pedestrian area that is used for loading and unloading only.

Got what you deserved im afraid.

One of my major gripes is people just parking where they like because its only going to take a minute or 2 whilst other law abiding citizens do the right thing.

We have these areas in Taunton and if everyone did what you did there would be carnage

I also thought if you were at your vehicle as the ticket was being written out but it was not placed on the vehicle or served, you could drive off! So I wouldn't have discussed anything with her, just jumped in and done one...

I think you'll find that changed some while back Robin

Only if he was doing something other than what is actually allowed in these places! And from what he has posted, he was doing exactly what the area was designated for. so an appeal would seems warranted.

Think we're now in the times where they have cameras so they take a timestamped picture of the offence, sometimes even on the same unit that prints the tickets

There was probably a sign on the way into the area explaining what you can and can't do there.
If it's a No Waiting area, unless you're loading or unloading, you're in trouble.
As, technically, you were doing neither, you may have to bite the bullet....

When I came out of the charity shop with young Bradley the woman had put the sticker on the window screen, when I got home and looked at the ticket she had observed the car parked there from 15.37 to 15.38. Missis T who had that look about her said to the woman " I told you he was dropping off stuff".
It was At that point she said she would support my appeal.
When I was driving off, the traffic warden was putting a ticket on another car parked twenty yards away that was on double yellows. Missis T told me that the two builders vans that were parked opposite my car could not get away quick enough.
Dont know if I will be successful or not in my appeal, but if not I will donate stuff in future to another charity shop. Shame because I used the British Heart foundation because me old man had a triple bypass and it just seemed personal.

We have several charity shops in our high street but its just about impossible to deliver stuff in bulk to them while they're open. We drop stuff off at night and leave it in the doorway.

Can I suggest that you go on to the best parking web site www.pepipoo.com with the details and they are most knowledgeable and will advise you through the whole proceedure

Cheers chris me man, just sat havin brekkie with young Bradley Tash and my 25th blood donation badge has arrived. Started donating when me dad got Luekemia and had to stop donating. At least it has not cost me £35.

Easy fix here. send the missus in with the stuff whilst you do a lap outside.

I always thought the loading and unloaded thing applied to business owners.

A pal of mine got done for parking on a taxi rank for 2 minutes while he loaded stuff into his car, he appealed and they said that he would have been fine on double yellows or in the "police only" bay but you can't park in a taxi bay as they could lose money - you couldn't make it up!
