I have a Ping Rapture Driver, Ping G10 4 wood, Ping S59 irons and will treat myself to a couple of Ping Tour W wedges after xmas is out the way.

I have also just bought a nice nes Ping Zing Redwood putter and also awn a Ping Craz_e. I also happen to know because it was let slip that I have a Sabertooth winging its way to me from Santa!!!!

I wont be switching away from my Wilson Df6 19 degree hybrid as its the only hybrid I've owned that doesnt balloon.

I buy Ping as I like and trust their products, I know their custom fit process works for me and I have faith in the company. Why change away if your happy?

I also have a Ping Hoofer bag which is 12 years old now and still immaculate. Totally bombproof. My trolly bag is a £35 PGA number but it does the job just fine.

Clothing I buy what I like including a £8.99 bargain bucket windproof fleece gilet from Tresspass which I wear non stop in the late autum/winter as its fantastic for golf. I also have rather expensive and colourful trousers from Stromberg and Ping. As I say if I like it I will buy and wear it.

Difficult one. I didn't start out with the intention of becoming a 'brand' tart, it just happened that way.

It started with the irons, then the driver which was severely reduced and at the end of it's retail life cycle. The rescues, tried several brands as I was very concious of the brand tart image, but I got on with them better than the other makes, so bought them. The putter was the only oddity. I tried many and the No7 was my favourite for putting with, despite not really liking the looks, but it's grown on me.

Because of the irons I fancied the Mizzy bag. A friend got me the Mizzy mitts last year as a bit of an on-going joke about all the Mizzy kit I have.

However, waterproofs are Calvin Greens, I don't have any Mizzy clothing, headwear or towels. Oops, almost forgot, guess which brolly I have, yep it's a Mizzy gustbuster one!!!

Does this make me a brand tart or just coincidental?

Damn - just realised the wedges - they're MPR's.

Ah well, brand tart I am then!

As for the next set of irons, I'll probably stick with the Mizzy range, but for the driver and woods / rescues, I'll experiment some more. As with greater experiance, I'll also take note of what my pro also suggests.

Last Time I went out Was on a local muni in bad weather so wasn't going to mess up my best Irons, so out of retirement came the Lynx irons. & here was what was in the bag & what I wore.

Bag Lynx
Irons Lynx CST-1
Woods Yonex mII 3 wood
Hybrid Ping 18 degree (only hybrid that I'm happy using now )
Driver Titleist 9.5 degree (kept the ball under the wind)
Putter Odyesey (that's going to get re-retired)
Lob wedge Titleist
Ball Slazenger 51 (an experiment for the winter)
Brolley Ping
Glove FJ
Shoes FJ
Hat Callaway
Jacket Ping
Smock Greg Norman
Golf top Callaway
Trousers Slazenger
Socks Puma
Watch Timex Shock Ironman Triathalon...

On any other day you can change the trousers to either Dunlop, Stomberg, or similar.
Top will likley be Ashworth, Greg Norman or Woodworm
Hats can be various, Ashworth, Ping, Yonex, Ben sherman, Polo, or whatever.
Irons would now normally be Ping
Jacket would be FJ
Putter could be Yes, Ping or Daly depending on mood, but always sone sort of blade
Lob wedge for the summer would be NV Drew Oh & bag would be bennington or Daly. though I suppose standbag would be still Yonex, though I might be convinced by a Ping standbag in due course, though Brolley could still be Yonex as its a good one.

People have taken the piss out of me a bit lately saying I look like a titleist staff player with my driver & irons being titleist and stowed in my very subtle (lol) bag!

I am still a mix-and-match really though. I couldnt give a toss about clothing brands, no way. In my bag there is gear from titleist, cobra, mizuno & taylor made.

I actually resent the implication of tackle tart. I originally bought my X20's following a C/F session and I already had the driver from when I restarted playing. The bag(s) were presents from the wife and mother (I wish they would communicate!!!) and I like the wedges as they suit my game. The callaway brand of shirts are reasonably priced and good quality. The umbrella was a necessity as my original single canopy fell foul of the weather so I bought a Callaway dual canopy and I got the towel out of the back of the AG storeroom courtesy of the manager. My woods are now a matching set of Cleveland as they were the best I tried when in the market.

I have sinced swapped to the Tour Burner as they are a slightly better player club (TM version of the X20 Tour) and were an absolute steal (£180 including my R7's as trade in). I already had a TM TMX tour carry bag bag which I used in dry conditions and special events (its white so shows up the mud a treat). I got my TP wedges cheap (80 for the 2) and my towels were free.

I have recently got some adidas shirts on a 3 for 2 offer from onlinegolf and because they are a quality brand and so I know I am getting value for money. I am looking at a TM Tour Burner driver (going to a demo day on Sunday) but this is mainly because my coach has ironed some kinks in my swing and my draw bias Cleveland is becoming a bit of a liability. If I can't find a TM driver (mother buying it for Christmas) I'll go back to my Cally and shop around when the new models hit the shelves next year.

I am old school and like to feel good and look good. I'm not an all the gear and no idea golfer and have/can play to a respectable level. I like to have matching kit as it gives me confidence that each club will perform to a matched criteria and just like to have a matching bag etc.

At the end of the day I have no family (apart form the ever tolerant HID) and no real hobbies apart from golf. I have a lot more money now I can no longer drink and so I beleive the choice of how I and what I purchase to play golf with is a personal preference. I have no affinity to TM other than I hit their clubs well and don't buy any kit because player XX uses or endorses it.

So gear nut rather than gear tart, in my case though perhaps at times a borderline case of gear tart...rofl

Quality & performance & looks is preferable to anything else. Not because A, B, or C uses X, Y, or Z for me, though A, B, or C may promote the idea that a brand actually exists that I may happen to try, or may give something the go I might not have previously.

Its the same with Guitars & Basses for me , quality always shows through I'f I've been caught in the trap of ordering something because someone in the past may have used it, its only the quality of an item that means I'd actually keep & use it. But most of my best purchases musical as well as golf have been because I like something & later discover an artist or player rather than the other way around...

Ironically it was after I Got my first Amp a Wem Clubman that I noticed many well known artists using that little known amp makers products & increased my interest in those Bands or artists & also lead into further reseach into their (now defunct) range of amps etc.

I remember many years ago seeing Rickenbacker Basses & Guitars that were a little more expensive than I'd intended on paying Later on getting interested in certain artists as I noticed they were using something I liked... btw, still don't own any Rickenbacker guitars, as mainly they are even more expensive than I remember...

Same thinking goes for my golf Gear nut rather than Tart.

I was the other way round with guitar for me. My guitar heros play Les Paul but I couldn't afford one. Ended up with a Tanglewood copy which ive juiced up with Seymour Duncan '59 Classic in the bridge.

Wouldn't own or play a Fender even if Dave Gilmore offered me a go of 001.

Images of The Shadows plunking out cheesy single note riffs when I was a kid put me off Fender for life.

Sure it's a light, versatile thing and easier to play but I would be just too embarrased to own one and they sound pants.

Still haven't got a 'real' Les Paul. On the rare occasions Ive had the money I just can't convince myself they are really THAT much better. Certainly wouldn't buy one 'off the shelf'.

My first set of clubs were Stanley Rogers Golf. Anybody heard of them, proberly not! but I do have to report that they were actully quite good and great for a first set but I only had the half set so can't vouch for the long irons though.

Lets see, 2 Fender Telecasters, One a Japanese JD The other a Mexican with now upgraded Bareknuckle pickups. A Special edition of an Epiphone Les Paul That I've upgraded the Pickups with Bareknuckle & Semour Duncans. There were tonal reasons for all the above modifications to do with the sounds I was after, though at the end of the day the real sound is in the fingers of the player. I've owned Strats in the past, but they're not really my thing. I've got a couple of Ibanezes, a rather nice Dean ML that I love the looks & sound of. More acoustics than you can last a who concert, & that's before I get started on my Basses. A Squier Jazz I upgraded to stacked humbuckers, with microswitches & flatwound strings, very nice sound, Ernie Ball Stingray SUB, An Ibanez K7 5 string, another Dean ML, but the bass version. btw I'm leaving a few out here, a couple of Mandolins, two Marshall amps, one wem amp a fender amp, Roland Bass amp, Harkte Bass Stack, Orange bass practice amp. More FX pedals than you find in the average music shop & so the list goes on...rofl I'm a real Gear nut, not to mention tone freak, which probably explains that a lot of the FX rarely get used...rofl
