He pushed a few spike marks down that clearly knocked his putt offline and accidently let go of a club that didn't threaten anyone's life as seems to be suggested.

But once again carry on slating a young lad following his dream 

Fair enough, you go and slam your putter into your green just like he did when you play next and see what your playing partners or, more particularly, any by standing green keepers' reaction is. I suspect they will not subscribe to the "oh thats fine, he's just PUSHING down a spike mark" argument!

And when the junior playing in the group ahead of you does just the same, and leaves a dent in the green, just say how good it is to see kids following such a role model!

THIS !!!! It's a shame there is no footage available to actually post on here as it was much more that pushing down a spike mark. What he did was equivalent to deliberately ripping the baize in snooker or deliberately scraping his spikes down the wicket in cricket. It was an abuse of the playing surface . Laugh at me all you like for being pedantic but if being pedant means that this gets nipped in the bud then i'm all for it.
