played yesterday on my own, was gonna go to the range and do some s&t drills but time didnt permit. Headed to the course and it was fairly empty so a few putts, chips and a couple of swings in the net and off I went.

2 pars, 1 birdie (par 3 12th nailed 8 iron to 6 feet over water with slight draw!!), 8 singles and the rest doubles so not 1 triple on the card, only one 3 putt and 32 putts total

45 front 9 and 45 back for a 90, par 69 so 7 under h/c. Just have to repeat it now lol

It wasn't a full s&t swing but my irons were the crispest ever.

What made the difference was after a slightly wild tee shot on the 4th I found 2 pro v1's, decent nick so thought sod it I will use them. OMG, I was stopping balls brilliantly with my wedges and short irons, might have to order some of the Pro V1 practice ones from DG (wont buy the brand new ones just yet as too expensive)

Plenty to work on r.e the new swing and driving still a bit erratic (still coming out to in slightly but no mahoosive slices which is a start). As I have a few weeks till Woburn and the season starting I have renewed enthusiasm :)

I LOVE GOLF!!!!

Well done G1bbo. You certainly don't look like a Mexican :smirk:

I had a near miss yesterday also. Missed out on shooting my first single fig handicap score.... And on the 18th aswell

Front 9, shot 5 over. On the back 9, started with a double, then went on a run of 4 pars before hitting another double. These we followed by a further bogie and a par. On the 18 (5 over) hit a lovely drive, found the green in reg, left myself about 20 ft for birdie. If it had dropped that would have been 4 over back nine and 9 over total.

In the end 3 putted, the only one of the bleedin day (I think the pressure got to me :0 )!! and ended up shooting 11 over. Gutted is an understatement.

On the plus side 7, 1 putts and and only 1 double on my card. Can't really complain.

There's always next week.

Well done again fella.

yeah I needed a par on the 18th, par 5. took safe 3 wood, then skewed my iron into the cack, on the green in 4 :( then 2 putted

Best shot for me was on the 5th, its a severe dogleg left (like 90 degrees) so I usually lay up with 2nd and chip on, chip went in the bunker and I chipped in from the bunker for par. More luck than judgement though.

very nice scoring Gareth off 18, your more mexican than me I think ;)

Well played Gibbo. You'll be dissapointed with anything less than a birdie on the 1st a Beau Desert this yr !

it wasn't full s&t Dave as I wasnt fully commiting to the left side on the backswing, more staying centred with the handle pressed forward slightly and more weight than normal on the left side. what I noticed was I was taking a lot better divots with a much better flight with my irons.

Probably play like crap on Tuesday lol

Well done both of you, hope it continues for you as we approach the new season.

Only 84 days till the Masters.

Guess thats the best way. Take what works for you and add it to your swing. Probably find with a lot of people, there are bits of differant styles in their swings without knowing it.

I think your spot on Dave, for me being a leftie playing RH it certainly felt more natural. Still a long way to go for me though

just got to get it grooved and do it in comps for the h.c to tumble a bit

Sounds as though your on the way. You certainly put the practise in. My goal this year is to get round the full 18 still in one piece. After the long lay off from injury. Use to be off single figures years ago before the neck discs going. Now still trying to find a swing that will work and hacking around. Still one day, would be happy to get between 10/14. Dont think it will get lower than that due to distance lose. 220yrd drive on a good day. On a bad day **%$^.

plenty of the old duffers at my place hit around 200 (if not a bit less) but nigh on always get down in 2 from around the green!

they only carry pw/sw and old as the hills no name putters.

They must smirk at me hacking around with my fancy shiny stuff and poncey tour bag :)

Good scoring Steve, just need to do it in a comp.

I went into todays comp with high hopes, but unfortunately it was not to be
