I played today with my son (only child). It was his 28th birthday and I took him round my home course which is tight and a real challenge. At 6ft 4in he's a big lad and plays about 6 to 7 games a year as he is still into his footie. He stood on the 1st and striped his 3 wood straight down the middle some 20 yards past my drive and it was game on. I gave him 9 shots and got thumped 4 and 3. It was such a wonderful pleasure to go out with him as most outings in previous years have been very much father and stroppy son - all of a sudden, relaxed and more mature is was a delight. I am sure that many of you have been there and some of you will eventually do the same but, for me, I couldn't be more happy tonight and proud!

it is nice to take ur kids round the course i took my son aged 6 and my step son aged 11 around a local 9 holer and it was brill to c them hit the ball :)

Sounds great, my son is only just 1 so I hopefully have this to look forward too, I had him holding my putter with my carpet putting the other day and the smile he had was amazing!!
Glad you had such a great day, hopefully many more to come...

My son turned 6 just before crimbo. We have had a few trips to the range and he has "played" a few holes with me at the course.
Hoping to take him round for 9 when the weather warms up and sign him up at our local range where they do kiddy classes.
It would be great to go to Portugal every and have an excuse to play golf :)

booked a surprise trip to Loch Lomond to stay at Cameron House & play the Carrick in the summer for my dad's birthday - it's the first time that my dad, my brother & myself will have played golf together in 20 years.... (f%&$ me, has it really been that long?!?!! that's WAY too long!)

where the f&%$ do the years go???!!!??

it's going to be excellent! :D

I have taken my six year old nephew out at the par3 course at ours a few times. He is actually very promising. He drives the ball about 90 yds, which for a little fella I think is very good. The best bit was when one day his dad was playing as well. His dad had a 5 at the 9th, beaten by his sons 4. He has still to live this down.
