He reached that number because he has totted sufficient points up to warrant it. This was not his first offence, although it was for this type of offence. Think of it like a driving ban, this was 3 points and he was sat on 6 already.

I agree it would be playing to the audience had it been a straight 4 matches for this one incident. From what Fundy has posted it is all a bit pointless anyway. They are banning him from a form of the game he doesn't play anyway

12 for proper grown ups, 6 for young (newly qualified) drivers to "curb their exuberance". So if you're half way between the 2 it might be 9...
