No it is fact Toonarmy not some political agenda it's very easy just to say that it's a load of rubbish why not show us some evidence that it's rubbish?

Virtually all the worlds top scientists say we are changing the planet but I've yet to hear your argument for why we aren't

I stand corrected with your excellent analysis. 'Fact' is it? And your citation for this is...? 'Virtually all the scientists', eh? And who would these be? And do you just ignore the significant number of scientists that are dismissing what they class as agenda-driven data that fails to stand up to any scrutiny?

I'm afraid the burden of proof is not on me. The burden of proof is on you to demonstrate that humankind is directly responsible for, and therefore able to affect, the climate of this planet.

I am saying that there is currently insufficient evidence to support a claim that humankind is adversely affecting the climate of this planet and that consequent legislation around carbon emissions and many other things do not hold logical arguments.

This does not mean we should not attempt to do sensible things like not be wasteful with energy or resources and be careful with our waste. This is just common sense.

Trying to convince me that we, through our activities, will be sinking St Andrews in 50 years (or anything equivalent) is so lacking in evidence or sense that I fail to see the point in discussing it.

There may be some truth in global warming, may be not, I am not qualified to say. Reducing carbon emissions is a good thing, as it will improve air quality, and in developing areas, China and India particularly, air quality is poor. getting rid of ozone destroying cfcs another good thing.

However, excessively penalising people in the UK is not going to help 'save the world' unless every else joins in. I realise someone has to be first, but if it wrecks your economy and leads to financial melt down, making the UK a third world country, it isn't the answer to global warming, and I get the impression that this is really what the 'green' agenda is all about. It needs to be tackled sensibly, without all the exagerated horror stories, and at a sensible pace. Unfortunately, the doom mongers believe that a sensible pace is for us all to turn off the heating, eat raw food, walk every where, eat vegegtables, and give up the telly. It doesn't help their case.

By virtually all scientists I mean the scientific academies and foundations of every industrialised nation on the earth (and plenty that aren't so industrialised) agree that human activity is causing an increase in global warming.

Yes you are right there are those that disagree but the overwhelming majority don't.If you want evidence of what human activity does to a planet see the hole in the Ozone layer. Are you suggesting that all the chemicals we put into the atmosphere have no effect at all?

The article doesn't try and convince you that St Andrews will be sinking in 50 years, a professor was asked to write a speech based on some hypothetical events and how society would change if they did.
