It will one day but 2050 is very ambitious! We will all be dead by global warming or bird flu etc by then anyway.

I think a lot of whats said is complete rubbish but lets face it, there are a lot of courses around the coast that are going to be in trouble if the sea levels do rise. And a big change in the amount of storms and rainfall could render other courses almost unplayable.

Oh God. I think I'm getting deppressed again...............

When reading the article you also come across

"also visualises a car-sharing nation of vegetarians, a country with evolving values, 'respected and trusted' political leaders working form a virtual parliament, and Celtic and Rangers players sharing the same carbon-neutral diet."

which showes SHE is talking nonsense. Lets face it nothing of any value has ever come out of St Andrews University

Mind you she may have a point, both Scott Mcdonald and Kris Boyd are currently sharing the same diet of Monster Munch and lager.

And there was me seeming to think that everyone thought 'Waterworld' was a load of old toss when it was released. Now it seems to be a blueprint for 'scientific' thinking. Hoary old cock.

Sick to the back teeth of this kind of misinformed pillock being given airtime by an ignorant liberalised middle-class media who all seem to shop at 'I Saw You Coming'.

The planet and the weather controls us, not the other way round.

Grrrrgh.

All they were asked to do is produce an imaginary report based on what might happen.

This isn't some statement on what is going to happen! And whilst the planet might control us we are contributing to it's current state like it or not!

We have had climate change as long as the planet has been around. We are still coming out of the last ice age (did anyone mention global freezing being caused by man before the last ice age?)and I am not convinced we are influencing climate at all now.

Toonarmy,

We definetely are abusing dear old mother earth. We've been doing it since the industrial revolution. Trouble is we can't seem to agree on what can be done in simple steps to make a difference. Take the Welsh idea of turning off streetlights to save money and reduce carbon footprint. Any savings in that little reduction will be offset by all the toerags driving for miles to burgle the poorly lit streets of wales. ;)

aren't we supposed to still be in an ice age but 'we' came out of it early?

less than 400 years ago it regularly froze as far south as the Thames, they used to skate on it. mind you with the pollution then it probably wasn't frozen water they were skating on!

If you look at the science world relating to this global problem you will find hundreds of different ideas and thousands of models covering every posibility. The only thing that is right is that temp is changing, I dont think we HAD anything to do with that nor WILL have. The fact that anyone thinks us parasites here on earth are more powerful than nature/the sun etc etc etc is laughable, but it makes for great business and funding for pro greenhouse gass scientists.lol.

I think St Andrews is at risk and no amount of wealth will protect it in the future, how long that future is no one really knows.

But dont worry , if it does become a non-course the Americans will buy it and ship it brick by brick to some tycoons newly aquired land. hey we may even be hosting the RC there at Michael Jacksons old place..lol

The ice age thing was back in the 80's when we were pumping so many chemicals and pollutants into the atmosphere that the effects of the sun began to weaken causing a temp drop if that had carried on for 50 years who knows?

We now have emissions laws so less rubbish is pumped out and as a result the earth got warmer.

I'm not suggesting that as individuals we can make much of a difference when companies are pumping out all kinds of stuff into the atmosphere but as a species we are influencing the earth's environment

I don't even know where to start with all that is inaccurate about these comments. Please look at the actual scientific evidence, rather than Mann's 'Hockey Stick' or any of the other fradulent rubbish being pumped out by the IPCC.

1. Question the facts
2. Question the source
3. Question the motive

There's not much of the modern 'thinking' that passes this test cleanly.

No it is fact Toonarmy not some political agenda it's very easy just to say that it's a load of rubbish why not show us some evidence that it's rubbish?

Virtually all the worlds top scientists say we are changing the planet but I've yet to hear your argument for why we aren't

Now I was under the opinion from what I was taught at school many millenia ago that Scotland was rising out of the sea & the South coast of Britain was sinking into it as a result of the release of pressure from the melted ice sheets that used to cover this country in the last iceage.

So if the article had been about Westward Ho, then I might have believed it. Had it been about any course from Cornwallto Kent, I would have believed it. But I really doubt that proffesors marbels... Oh & I doubt I'd still be swinging a club in 2050, unless its a celestial one.
