I popped to a nearby course this morning to have a practice putt.

There were 5 people on the tee, 4 x 15'ish year olds and an adult. They were French or Belgian - not too sure. They all teed off as a 5 ball then 4 oldens (about my age) made them split into a 3 and 2 ball but insisted on going between them with the 2 ball last

I couldn't see the logic of not letting them play together and asking them to call through if held up?

Any thoughts?

Totally bonkers logic and probably some club stalwarts wanting to flex their importance muscles over visitors.
I absolutely agree with splitting them but surely it should have been 2 ball, 3 ball and then the 4 ball, potential quickest first and so on.

I can't imagine any club allowing a group larger than 4 players. Wasn't there a big debate about this on a forum meet last year?

I'ts a decent pay and play course. I don't think they allowed them to do it but there were 4 kids and obviously an adult looking after them.

Ye strange to put yourself in between them so they don't even get to chat on the tees or anything....

Not quite this. 2 Groups were all standing on the 18th tee and in order to speed up they decided to all tee off, walk to their balls then one group play up and putt out followed by the other. Did not really work out quite that organised and that is where the issues arose.

Who were the oldies?
There's probably loads of people working away in the background, trying their hardest to get people onto their course and doing a dam good job and then you get these ********s (and I chose the word carefully) throwing their weight around showing them who's boss.
As Smiffy used to say.....Knobs :sbox:

they could have done this so after a few holes they did not revert to a 5 ball, takes me back to the days of the muni 5 players,2 six packs of lager and 3 sets of clubs, and they moaned when challenged.
