Back in the day we had Faldo,Norman,Els to name a few living here in the UK,in recent years we have lost the younger stars such as Rose,Donald,Poulter,Casey all now based in the US and a few months back we heard that Westwood is leaving these shores.I can only think of Monty and Bjorn still permantly based here,I know the weathers better etc but it is a shame none of the worlds top players call The UK home anymore.

Bjorn no longer lives here - gone back to Gottenburg as 'home'.

Many still have houses here - Els and Goosen certainly do, but they are foreigners anyway, so is that really 'home'! McIlroy certainly still 'resident' in the Emerald Isles, though has residence elsewhere too! Likewise the others you mentioned have multiple 'residences' - including UK.

The majority of top earning sportsmen will not live in the uk due to tax issues. HMRC have decided that ALL income they earn whilst living in uk is subject to uk tax including sponsorship earned solely abroad

Same reasons why button and other formula one drivers despite being based in uk (and do testing etc here )actually live abroad

Normally Monaco where they pay no tax.

I am surprised that none of the major football teams haven't based themselves there and the fly the team to matches each week, players have to be registered with premier league , la liga etc but not aware that there is a condition of residence, most travel night before and stay over for away games anyway not much more travel on private plane each week, maybe Wigan or Norwich etc could do this to compete on wages with city and Chelsea, Eufa fair play rules won't make an issue as its percentage revenue spent ;)

Brett Rumford (European tour member) lives in Ascot. Not exactly a big fish but he is pretty good with his time when I see him at the club. Always has a chat and swaps a few tales about life on tour
