I didn't reapond to the poll.

A Fade is a proper shot if you played for one and it suits the hole.

Don't get bent up about people saying things about a fade but in the same way don't think you better than anyone else because you can play one.

No way do I think I am better than any one else ....the fade has only come out on the last two trips to the range....in a consistent manor that is!!!! but i think when its happened its good enough to stick out....

On the course when I have hit one I have found the fairways more often all be it sometimes at the edge

The thread was started because of the email i received :D

That post wasn't meant to be taken personally.

Don't believe everything you read would be a more appropriate response! :D

The pro is trying to sell lessons on the back of a common bad shot, the silce, and the difficulty the average player finds in hitting a draw.

If you enjoy hitting a Fade on most shots and find it consistant then fade away but a slice is something you'll have to work hard at to be consistant at!

Sorry I was very quick to jump then :o

and I questioned the statement from the pro sraight away hence the post ;)

Was hopping Bob would be along to give his thoughts on the subject
:D :D

A soft fade, is a very nice shot to have.

Its often considered a safe shot but that i mean there is little that can go wrong with it.

If you draw the ball you open yourself up to blocking the ball straight right or overdoing it and hooking it. So any given day when its not quite on the mark the ball can go left or right, but with a fade it will only go right so much easier to deal with.

Ok a fade might rob you off a few yards but also means the ball will stop quickier on the greens.

You would be suprised how many pros play a stock fade.

Really good players shape the ball both ways on demand.

Thats very true,

but they also have stock shot and only shape the ball the other way when the shot demands it.

They generally dont shape the ball just for the heck of it unless your name is Bubba

No, a fade (generally a pull-fade) isn't a decent golf shot, on the other hand a push-fade IS the proper way to move the ball left to right as it is played with a descending blow on the back side of the circle (ie: before the club bottoms out).

Here's Jack Nicklaus hitting a PUSH-fade. The flag is front right (by the bunker you can see on the right).... take a look where his feet/shoulders are aimimg (over the fountain?)...he's blocking it right, definitely not pulling it to the left.
