hello again,

i am going away to crete for 2 weeks on sunday , and will be playing 2 or 3 rounds here ..http://www.crete-golf.com/home.aspx , now you can rent callaway clubs for 30 euros, but i was thinking it might be better value to take my clubs instead? How much approx is it to take your clubs away, and is it a lot of hassle in the airport at check-in, and at the baggage pick up etc?

thanks:)

Depends hugely who you fly with. You need to look on the airline web site to see if and how much they charge.

Do you own a travel bag? If not, you do need one or the baggage handlers will mangle your clubs. This adds to the expense.

Other than that, clubs are no real hassle (til they get lost and don't turn up). Need to insure them really. Airline compensation is tosh.

Is the transport to the hotel a coach? If so, no issues, but getting a golf travel bag into a small taxi is no fun.

Is there going to be enough room where you are staying to store them and the bag?

Is the girlfriend / wife / holiday squeeze (various) going to moan at the lack of space?

Ant, as you play with Callys already it would be a lot easier to hire clubs. I have done this before and the clubs were in very good condition.

That's my personal view though, so in the end it is your choice.

i worked in crete for 2 years and ive seen the baggage handlers at heraklion airport at work , my advice would be to hire a set when your there, heard good reports about the course, shame they couldnt have built it a few years earlier when i was working there
