Is it all about the ball?

I think it's more than feel. it is about the actual speed of the ball off putter face for any given shot. Be interesting to know if there have been any objective (i.e. robot) testing of this.

A bit like green speed, there seems to be a speed that suits my stroke so that with my natural/normal stroke the ball goes as far as I intend it to. Faster or slower and I'm trying to adjust by consciously hitting harder or softer.

I think the same can be true of balls too. I remember once playing with a distance ball and every putt went feet past the hole!

might also be putter related???, some may suite a type of ball more. I always struggled with distance control with an insert putter, but since switching to a scotty far better.

If it's not a 'stone' I'm actually not that bothered what ball I use - and I judge myself a good putter with putting being the strongest part of my game.
