Is hitting a draw with a driver all it's cracked up to be?

Played with a fade for over 30 years, spending an awful lot of time as Cat 1. Decided to try and learn to draw the ball = a disastrous season. Went back to the fade.

If it was good enough for Jack Nichlaus, I'll stick with it.

Same here. I can draw my shorter clubs but hit fade with driver down to 5 hybrid. Now its fair to say that a well executed draw can travel further than a fade but like many i find it so hard to pull off consistantly. I think if you're stock shot is a fade and you can play it well then stick with it. Better the the devil you know than the devil you dont.

Update- played a tie last night and jeezo I was all over the shop... 1st few holes were very hooky... Managed to get a grasp near end of the round but muchos practice needed. Probably a step in the right direction though

I tend to hit mine fairly straight (straight to me is 10 yards either side of where I'm aiming!) but I always aim smack down the middle to allow for a fade or a slight draw...would love to be able to know what shot I'm about to hit like some of you lot do!

Quite a bit of the shape is/can be affected by your set up.

If you don't intentionally try to play one shape or the other then you won't. straight and 10 yards either side would be sweet if you really where that accurate.
