Irons - the best you've had

Had quite a few different sets (nearly 20) and all of them have been pretty damned good!

Must admit to having a soft spot for TM300 Forgeds. Currently got 2 sets but have had 6. Only 5 at any one time though!

only ever had the 1 set, nike vr full cavity's, i started with a slice, then strait briefly, currently drawing/hooking the ball, will click soon enough!! when i do get it right i love them, i wont change until i drop 10shots

I sold my i15's about 6 months ago and bought some Cobra S3's because they were being offered at a ridiculously low price on ebay and I fancied a change. Had never hit one before in my life, but liked the look of them. Initially I thought I had made a mistake. First 3 or 4 times out with them I couldn't get on with them at all. But something finally clicked and now I'm hitting them really well. Love 'em.
Worst set of irons I ever had was a set of MX200's. Had them custom fitted as well. Crap. Was only too glad to get shot of those.
I do like the look of the i20's though........

Looking forward to seeing the new Pings at Woodhall!!:)

My first ever set were Wilson Patty Berg's which were fantastic. They got nicked.
I then owned a set of Wilson 1200GEs which were OK.
I then bought a set of Mizuno TP9s which were lovely but they had regular shafts so when I did hit one properly, the ball just ballooned!
I gave up golf for quite few years so when I got back into it I knew the TP9s would be no good for me so I bought the Cleveland CG reds which were OK.
I've now got the Wilson Staff FG Tours with stiff shafts and they are very, very good clubs. They've helped get my handicap down from 11 to 7. :whoo:

Had a few, won sone srixon XXIO's which were nice but graphite shaft so binned them,
Got a set of Tilteist 755'S which I loved until some thiefing git nicked em
Moved onto G10 which I really liked but they were my set in work so sold on when office assignment finished.
Tried the Mizuno MX19 which I did not like (ebay special) and then TM Tour preffered which I did not like.
Finally on the Rapture V2'S,so Titleist 755'S were my favourites.

Had a few sets through the years. TM Burner 1.0, Cleveland CG7 Black Tour, Adams A7 (have to admit these were really really good) but my current MP52's are far and away the best I have tried and will be hanging on to these for a long to come.

Titleist 690mb's loved them to bits... still have them but the are way past there best now.
If i could find a brand new set for sale I would snap them up

My Favourite set of Irons Ive ever owned were Callaway X-14, great set, if I hadnt met a couple of Gear 'freaks' at Work, Id prob still have them now.............

Top 3 sets
1 ) Callaway X-14
2 ) Taylormade R7 TP
3 ) Callaway FT

My mate still has a set of Callaway X-12 Pro Series, has had them since new, ( must be 10-12yrs ) and theyre a lovely set, and I was actually contemplating finding a Good Cond. set of these and having some shafts fitted to suit.....

s.

where did this happen? was it at home or at your club? im sure this is everyone on heres worst nightmare. if the house was on fire id be in the garage making sure my clubs got out ok.

My current MP57's.

Feel like butter when hit right (or so I've heard ), and you know when you've hit a bad shot, which is nice to know (but not for your hands in the dead of winter).

Add the fact they were an absolute steal and you have a winner.

I do miss my Lynx Black Cats though.

I had a set of Lynx USA irons back in the 70's which I really liked. Obviously, my Ping i15s are excellent but I'm still very curious about other makes such as Mizuno etc. I don't want to become a gear junkie but I'd love to try a few others but daren't in case I fall for them.

When I was in the Aberdeen office for 2 years I used to fly into Edinburgh from Bristol dirt cheap and drive up,got into Aberdeen about 10 on a Monday morning and worked through till 6. Parked up the car (cheap runabout) in Edinburgh near my mates and had my irons in there as I had been practicing my Irons on the Thursday night and forgot to take em out.Anyway got back Monday morning to find the window panned in and my irons gone, only thing in the car really apart form a few chargers whcih were nicked as well. Got the insurance though as they were not on show, bought the V2's from that cheque.

Best has to be my TaylorMade TPMB's. Stunning feel and they look so good.

Only ever had Mizuno MP-37's and Callaway X12 Pro Series before them. Both were great also but shafts prob never suited me.

MB's will be hard to shift from the bag.

Used to have a set on dunlops, switched to cobra FPs but they had been fitted for my brother not me although i got on pretty well with them. Best are what I currently have. Callaway RAZR X. Got them fitted but turned out my best fit was off the shelf with them.
