I always wondered what sort of tasteless git played with the Doctor X irons, and now I know. cheers Snelly. I never tried hitting any, as I couldn't get past the looks.
Has to be Morphy Richards Jet Stream 42254 Steam Generator
Revolutionised how I pressed my clothes, I usually do it while watching motor racing.
My simple equation for shaft flex choice is that I seem to hit it quite far compared to others, therefore I need stiffer shafts. The Tour X Stiff shafts in my irons feel good although if I try and belt a ball a bit harder for whatever reason, it seems easy to hit a hook, even though the swing feels okay. Any thoughts on this guru?
Couldn't specifically blame the shaft if you're going after the shot a bit harder... normally that's to do with losing the sync in your swing and the hands trailing, and then flipping (rolling) at the last millisecond.
I tried some projectX 6.0's and they felt like iron bars... currently using projectX 5.7 and they feel like rubber- it's clearly a no win situation.
I've known big hitters use 5.5 and guys with iron swings that look slow to use 6.0 or 6.5's
A proper fitting is really the answer for both of us... I'm just not sure I can use the same swing more than once!
Project X shafts are weight sorted not frequency sorted (unlike old Rifles), so one set with a given number can be a bit different from another with a given number, and they can vary within sets. PX were designed to feel boardy.
If you want the same flight with more feel, try KBS C-taper.
I thought KBS Tour (non C-taper) was meant to be same as PX (low-mid flight and spin).
C-taper is meant to be slightly lower flight and spin (low of both) - and better dispersion. Seems like a good shaft for me. I found PX5.5 (in CB201s) harsh; KBS Tour (in V-Muscles) had much better feel - could be down to heads though.
I reckon KBS Tour (non C-taper) are a bit higher launch than PX of comparable flex and are a bit closer to PX flighted.
Just looked a pic of these, wow they look sweet... I can feel an iron change coming onWhich Orka's did you have? I've got the PS9 blades, absolutely gorgeous set of sticks.
Ethan,
Where do you get your information on all this stuff? I am starting to feel like I need to gain a better understanding of this subject.
Also, I note that you have exactly the driver and irons I mentioned. I might buy some with regular shafts and see how I get on.....
..... and have played golf since, well, all drivers came with hickory shafts!
