I have read an article by hugh marr who suggests that The difference in swing speed from a 5-iron to a driver is typically 20 mph. I'd say this gives me a rough swing speed of 110mph and I know the area I'd like to change is loft as I drive the ball very low.

After having my irons fitted out, I'm wondering if the information can be transferred to a driver/wood selection and combined with what I'd like to change about my ball flight?

i'd suggest the 20mph difference is a 'guideline figure' and that you would be much better going to get your driver/woods swing data checked rather than work it back,

A 20 mph difference does not apply to all players.

A more commonly cited, and more generalisable, statistic is that you swing a 6 iron at 85% of your driver speed.
