The only thing I like about it compared to my windows mobile HTC Touch Diamond phone, is that it has a larger screen. That's all.

Do you really need apps that look like you're drinking a beer!!?

I have an ipod nano for most of the music, but the phone has that as well. But it's the seamless syncing with Outlook that's the first priority for me, therefore windows mobile it is. This is my second touch screen phone in 5 years. I won't be changing any time soon.

Well well. Doesn't time change things!

Seeing as Orange have petty much dropped all the decent HTC Windows Mobile phones, and now have the iphone. My upgrade was due, so I went for one.

Syncing with MS Outlook was easy and seamless. But the best thing was that it automatically set up my emails from the work server. No messing with POP3 and SMTP. Which TBH was a bit of a pain on the WM device. I do like the larger screen, as it's what I used to be used to with a PDA that I had years ago.

I've only had it 24 hours, so early days yet, but so far so good.

Would I use it as a GPS on the course? Not in this weather! I'll use my old phone running Freecaddie for that.

Sceptic and cynic has been converted. :D

Glad to hear you're enjoying your purchase Hapless. GPS doesn't work very well as my course is in the mimram valley, but if you get good reception, there is no reason why a GPS app wouldn't work. x

I have the 16gb 3Gs and love it, easy to use great for emails etc also have a blackberry for work but would prefer to use the iPhone but they won't let me

Freecaddie app is excellent and have used it a couple of times and it was always within a yard of my mates SC 2.5 so not bad for a phone

With my new job I got a ne 32gb 3gs Iphone, Coming from several Windows 6.1 smart phones I was very sceptical. My (then) current phone 3 weeks ago was a samsung omnia running the latest software etc and barring the camera the iphone runs rings around it.
The menus are intuitive, the touch screen typing is fantastic with realistic sized buttons that virtually always show the intended key should I be in between two keys.
The safari Browser (which I use daily for here and other forums) is superb, the screen scrolling and pinch zoom in and out works a treat, perhaps even easier than using a standard mouse.
The email client works really well with linked contacts etc, something I rely on for work now.
MMS and messaging is not a problem in the newer models, the fact it also has a camera and iphone abilities built in almost make it worth its pricetag but then again, is any phone these days worth their actual tag?
I had my Samsung sold on ebay days after picking up this great little piece of technology. It really isnt style without substance, the menus are lightening fast and there are lots of free apps out there that will keep even the biggest technophobe happy (no not the carlsberg app!, the golf gps and host of other bits of software are fantastic).
The only downside I can see, bar the pricetag, is the battery life, If you use this thing to its full potential you will get about 24 hours out of it, Ive had up to 3 days so far but barely used it over the weekend.

Didn't want to start a new topic, but if anybody is on o2 and has an iPhone. I implore you to download the Sky Mobile TV app.

It's free for 3 months if you're with o2 (£6/month if you're not) and the quality is amazing. It's just started 3G streaming meaning you can watch Sky Sports almost anywhere.

Channels are: (off the top of my head, I'm watching the golf on it atm)

Sky Sports 1-4
Sky Sports News
Sky News
ESPN

I think there is one other, but can't think of it. But seriously recommended!! x

I didn't know about that one, I'll have a look, thanks.

Also, for normal channels (freeview stuff) theres catchup.tv

Quality is very good, just needs a wi-fi or 3G signal to work.

best downloading your home course so you get most use out of it.

Vig was telling me if you email sonnocaddie and ask for a course to be mapped they usually do it pretty quickly.

I thought the 3G did do video now?

I wasn't overly impressed with the iPhone when I had a play with one and plumped for the HTC Magic usign the Android system. The Nexus 1 (Google phone) is the new version.

My Mrs recently got an iPhone and must admit I am tempted to go with the iPhone when my contract is up later in the year.

As good as the HTC Magic/Android is the iPhone feels more solid and has better apps - probably simply because there is more money behind it.

Yessss of course it is. I would be in a world of trouble if I couldn't do this, to check text messages/calendars.

I've never tried to access an app whilst on the phone, but you can definitely access the core functions. All you do is press the 'home' button.

To return to the call, press the top banner x

Yip. I would just go onto speaker-phone then press the home button to access any app while you're talking away. No interruption to the call at all.

If you want to surf the net listen to music and play around with App's then there is no phone that comes close.

Iphone is all the app's thats what makes it stand out above the rest. i dont use alot of them but the ones i do use i love for example the sky tv app, which lets you set stuff to record really awsome.. as you might have someone in work tell you about a program and within a few minutes you can have it added to your planner.

other great app's like sky news, ebay and sky sports are also really handy and easy to use.

Another is flixster lets you see whats on in cinema's near you and watch trailers also let yous know what dvd's/films that are coming out in the coming weeks.

Ok i do have more app's the more i think on it and could go on for another 2 pages chatting about these but i am sure no one wants that lol...

But fact is these are the best phone ever made
