IPad email problem?

Im having a problem at the moment with my email account on my iPad and Bieng a bit of a Technophobe I'm struggling to sort it, I just wondered if anyone has experienced a similar problem.

On the mail icon on the home page it's showing new mail,currently 8 unopened. But when I go into the account there is no new mail there. I've 2 email accounts on there but neither are showing new mail once I go into the email list. Despite the Icon showing 8 unopened.

Ive tried to Google the fault with no success.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and could point me in the right direction?

have you checked the sub folders and spam? if in doubt, turn it off (proper reboot!) and turn it back on again.

It's had happened to me when I have searched my mail for something e.g. Golf. The results have brought up 10 messages including 2 unread, if you don't read those two messages they will appear as unread messages on your home screen but won't be in your inbox as that only shows recent messages. The annoying thing is if you don't the delete the two unread messages there and then and you forget what you searched for and have a lot of unread messages in your inbox there is no way to identify them other then mark all unread as read.

Go into your account on your computer and mark them as read or delete them.

This happens because the iPad shows mail for say 2 weeks. But you searched the server and it went back 4 weeks and it found unread mail .
