There was an interclub comp at my place today, I was in the locker room and noticed someone had left a card on the side. Being nosey I had a look at it.

The marker lost the first 7 holes, then had 2 halves to be 7 down at the turn, they then won 6 of the next 7 to reduce the deficit to one down. Sadly for them the last 2 were halved for a one hole loss but what a strange match.

How must he/she of felt being seven down? :o To actually make any sort of come back is quite an achievement. Touch wood ive never been 7 down but i reckon if i ever am i would completley fall to pieces!

I played in my clubs greensom match play comp last year, alternate shots. Anyway me and my partner were 7 up at the turn and on fire. Don't have a clue what happened to our game after that be we lost 8 holes in a row to lose the match on the 17th !!! Funny old game eh :-)

I still laugh about it...........

I was 7 down after 9 a few weeks ago... and was playing quite nicely  (partner was 4 under par thru 9)
I thought I did OK to go down 3&2 ... at least i didn't give up..... like I will at Woodhall :angry::p:mmm:

I went 5 down in a match once after 9 holes, OK not interesting but after loosing the first to a par my opponent then went Birdie (2), Birdie (4), Birdie 3... the last one being holed from a bunker! I came back on the back 9 with a string of pars to send it to A/S on the 18th! I think I probably played the course close to about 8 over off a 15 handicap and still lost! Mainly because I hit my drive too good on the last and lost it in the rough out the back of the fairway :(

On Sunday I played in a match play event and started off 4 down after 4 holes. Was 5 down after 11. Was a dormey 4 after 14, dormey 2 after 16. Then on the 17th (170 yard par 3) drove to 5 foot from the hole but missed the birdie putt (both parred it for a half and for me to lose 2 and 1).
Kicked myself for missing the birdie putt but was thankful not to get white-washed. It was a teams of seven event and we got well and truly stuffed (6 1/2 - 1/2). It also rained pretty heavily for half of the match, but was great to play on such a lovely course (Swinley Forest).
We were playing against their artisans section who were a great bunch of guys which took some of the 'sting' out of such a massive beating

I have been 6 down after 9 before, won 6 of the the next 7 holes to make it level, lost the 17th then sank a 20 foot put from the fringe for a birdie to take it level again.

It felt like a victory to me anyway!

In a 4BBB KO match last year my partner and I were 5 up after 8, then one of our opponents birdied 6 of the next 9 holes! Thankfully I also birdied 17 for a half and a 2&1 win, but we were worried!

Hendo , if u were 7 up at the turn, then lost 8 in a row, u wud NOT have Lost on 17th......
U wud have been 1 DOWN and played down 18th........Surely.........?????

Howay......U look far too young to be losing your memory, already....:D

As a youngster playing a scratch bounce game at Muirfield I was 6 up at the turn [starting at 10th].
My opponent then went 4,2,4,3,3 from the 1st [two eagles] to get it back to one. I nervously held on to hole a six footer for the game.

I remember Bobmac letting a four hole lead disappear once. Luckily he was playing a 36 hole match because he would have lost by one hole had it only been over 18.
You wouldn't think a professional could let that happen would you???
