I'm looking to start taking lessons to start to improve and get everything sorted out as never had it done.

Wanting to know what are the going rates for lessons and long they last?

Not wanting to get ripped off so looking for rough info on it first

It depends who you have them with but I think they start about £15 for 1/2 hour rising the further south you go

Lincolnshire being the most expensive area of Britain of course ;)

My costs are very reasonable................considering my age. Now where did I leave that pupil? :D

Adult Private Lessons
45 minute V1 lesson with take home CD £25.00
30 minute lesson £16.00
6 for 5
Never had one yet but thats our clubs rate.

Never had one Stevie but seems dear tbh for half an hour, compared to others, nearly double. do you get a dvd etc for that price. Mearns is an expensive place though.
Have you tried Balmore which is near torrance, or cowglen. they do lessons too.

No dont get dvd but they said something about putting it on to the site which I can then watch from there with some password. I thought it was a bit expensive as well for just 30min plus its off the astro turf mats which I dont fancy. Waiting to be confirmed in to my club then think of even asking the pro there and having it on the grass.

I know right away they are going to change my stance as I aim to the right of the target with my feet which I think means I have a out to in swing or something like that! still goes straight and to where I want it tho even when doing this

I would't change it. If you hit it straight where you want it, why fix it?

Just check out Freddy Couples, he aims about 30 degrees left of target all the time. That said, if he knuckles down at his game i think he may make it as a Pro ;)

I pay £20 per lesson (30 mins), or buy 6 for £100. My teaching pro often spends 45 mins on the lesson. I always come away with a feeling of achievement, and something to work on, although I appear to have screwed something up big time since my last lesson. Gone from hitting really well and aiming for an 18 handicap to feeling like I never played before and hitting to a 30+ handicap........ Am off down the range in about 10 mins.

One of the things I will be doing when it gets warmer, is having a playing lesson. He books 2 hours and we play nine holes. Costs £37 and includes my greenfee, arounf a £100 if I was to pay for 4 lessons and the greenfee, so something worth doing.

Bobmac am I right in thinking this means my swing path goes from out to in on the down swing??

From what you've said in your posts, I would say yes.
Lots and lots of golfers swing out to in, but they tend to aim left, the clubface stays open hence the slice.
If you are hitting it straight where you want it to go, your swing path must be straight and your clubface must be square to that path. You achieve this by aiming right to counteract your swing which is left of your aim.
I wish more out to inners would do this. :)

Thanks bobmac,

Wasn't 100% sure if this is what I was doing so was just wanting to make sure as tried to line my feet up towards my target as read somewhere that said this is the way you should do it, it made me play all over the place so went back to what way I hit best which is aim right of target with my feet for straight result

I paid £55 for 4 half hour lessons - at the driving ranbge in the bays with the fake turf.

I asked if i could use two slots together but they said that there would be too much info and i'd get less out of it because i'd never remember it all. I had my doubts but went along with what they said and I have to say i'm glad i did.

Its the best investment in my golf i've made, well worth while. DO them in half hour installments and with a few sessions at the range in between you should quickly get used to the new swing adjustments. Good luck with it

£17.50 for half an hour and 6 for the price of 5. Depending how busy he is I'll often get a bit longer and if he sees me doing something wrong on the range he'll point it out and remind me of stuff he's told me before. I'm definitely seeing the benefit as a newbie.
