Info on Lessons

Bloody hell.. A thread about lessons and Homer has not posted his road trip to the PGA with the help of Bob Rotella and David Leadbetter in person during the weekends!!

Whenever I have a lesson it usually takes 2-3 range sessions to really get it bedded in and natural. My range sessions can take about 90 minutes but its not about hitting hundreds of balls and I spend a lot of time rehearsing the swing in slow motion (ironic when you see how fast I swing) and trying to feel the position of changes I was shown. One of the best tips I've been given is to hit an iron off a low tee using as slow as swing as possible and try not to hit it over 100 yards. It really makes you focus on the turn and the slowness brings it all together so you can really feel the transition into the downswing and the hips etc turning

Thanks bobmac,

Wasn't 100% sure if this is what I was doing so was just wanting to make sure as tried to line my feet up towards my target as read somewhere that said this is the way you should do it, it made me play all over the place so went back to what way I hit best which is aim right of target with my feet for straight result

There's nothing wrong with aiming right,.. it just depends HOW FAR right. Ideally aiming right promotes an IN-TO-OUT swingpath and results in a DRAW. If you are cutting across it then you are probably losing distance and or consistency.

If you are happy with your game (and being a 16 h/cap) then there is no need to change :) ;) ;) ;)

I have phoned up place called mearns castle who do them and they are looking for £30 for 30min!

Can you learn much in this short space of time??

£30 a pop sounds a bit steep for 30 mins.

Theres plenty of pros near you doing lessons far cheaper.

£25 for 30 minutes. You can get 6 for the price of 5 if you pay up front though. As have about one a month I usually pay each time.

Well worth the investment and better for you game than spending an equivalent amount constantly tinkering with your gear. Mind you I do that as well. :o
