Maybees, but you couldnt get on Hillside.
Formby is a great course, but would definitely put Cruden and probably Royal Aberdeen above it.
Nope, Hillside had a competition that day

A lot of people say Panmure is very classy! Are members welcoming or a bit snobbish towards visitors?
There welcoming and the Pro is a nice lad as well, i played there in September and it was in great condition. Its the most expensive club in the area by a long way at about £1000.

Is it more expensive than Carnoustie?
Yes it is,Carnoustie is a Links Committee and there as are 3 club that play there, The Carnoustie Golf Club, The Caladonia and The Dalhousie. You pay your club membership then your Links ticket on top of that depending if you have a 2 or 3 course ticket, the chances of getting a 3 course ticket nowadays are virtually none.
pubs - CASC, seven degrees north, the illicit still, mcginty's, old blackfriar's, the tippling house are all great pubs. the first two are specialist craft beer establishments
restaurants - rustico (italian), moonfish (seafood), the cock and bull which is just outside aberdeen on the road to cruden bay (gastro pub grub), café bohéme (french), nargile (turkish), boozy cow (gormet burger bar), prime cuts (steak house). you won't struggle though, there is a very good variety of cuisines in aberdeen. there's a really good indian my brother-in-law went to a few weeks back but I don't recall the name.
shops - stay in the pub?
The only good shop in Aberdeen is Gamola Golf.![]()
Nice write up, I was also hugely impressed with Murcar when we had the forum trip there last year.
Only rained for 3 holes......are you sure you were in Scotland??
Can't tell you how lucky we were, rain was forecast all 3 days but golf gods were benign with us!![]()
Cruden is a beauty isnt it, and I also thought the st olaf has the better greens.
We got a small miniature of Whisky on the first tee from the start when we played it.![]()
