In praise of hybrids

OK, hybrids do have a hosel, but it is normally set back in the head and doesn't protrude into the face. By the way, did I mention that a 5-hybrid is particularly good for long shots out of fairway bunkers?

hybrids and woods are the only clubs ive never shermaned.... apart from the putter

While hybrids won't hit the ball for you, they do make life much easier for many players. I can't hit my 4-iron any further than my 5-iron, and the 5-iron not really much further than my 6-iron, but I can get a decent amount of distance from a 3 or 4 hybrid. They don't seem to require any special technique, just slightly forward of centre in your stance and hit down on the ball like an iron. You can also sweep them away like a fairway wood if that style suits you better.

Still not convinced. Can still hit my 3 iron 240 yards so no need for one of these daft clubs, ant see any reason as to why I would need one.

Can you hit as well out of fluffy rough or get it to land softly

Think McIlroys shot into 18th at the Honda shows it well

In answer to this.I don't find myself in the rough very often.Semi roughy then I tend to go down a club or 2 as you tend to get a flier so don't need to hit the club for normal yardage.If I do find myself in thick rough (very seldom) then I play the percentage shot & try to get up & down to save par.
