The temperature in weather forecasts is measured in the shade, and sheltered from the wind, so you'd need to add windchill to the figure in question.

They need to come and measure it in our kitchen... :( :( :( :( :(

You don't need to tell me that, we're in an 1830's house, with Calor Gas from a tank, last year we ran out and they couldn't get to us for 16 days to deliver some more over the new year cold snap (they could have done as I was still driving 100 miles to work most days but they're too lazy), our kitchen was so cold the fridge-freezer turned itself off because it was colder outside the fridge than it was inside. That was mental.

We haven't had it anything like as bad this time round though, I think we're about the only part of the country that really hasn't had any snow except up on the high ground.

I smoke outside the house, only the other day I said to the missus it might be better to clear out the fridge and get inside to keep warm :D :D

When travelling in extreme weather conditions the government advise you should:

carry a shovel
flask
wellies
rock salt
hi-viz jacket &
a blanket.!

I looked a right dickhead on the bus this morning.

The local supermarkets have run out of milk due to the snow and ice preventing their deliveries getting through.

Fortunatley Doreen, my 92 year old neighbour, has loads piled up on her doorstep........

I was walking round our village yesterday looking for some supplies for my mum and there wasn't any bread, milk or papers and whe I went for her prescription I was told the delivery van couldn't get through. Imagine my disgust when I walked past my local off lisence and saw this:

They managed to get a pallet of Buckfast tonic wine delivered. That just about sums up Scotland and Motherwell.
