Every time there's a big competition
most of you guys place your bets (it's your money)
on non-English players

be honest how many of you have placed a bet
on the USA to win the Ryder Cup

Please do not start a slanging match,
on the best golf forum there is ;)

as nasty as it is its very typical amoungst english sportsman to crumble at the last minute. if your betting for fun, drink the money, if your betting to win, bet wise.

Dont bet on the Ryder Cup, well I didnt last year and didnt play Golf the time before that. The odds are usually crap.

As for my betting, I back them at times. It all depends what the competition is and who is on form. Nothing else.

theres a lot of value in backing outsiders on the tour,
if your a Westwood fan (which I am),you always get a run for money,it cant be said for most of the others

Look at the current form and the players history at particular courses before betting i.e.

Phil M at Augusta
Appleby at Kapalua
Love III at Hilton Head

Some courses suit certain players.

Sometimes like Oosthuizen at the Open no-one can see it coming.

Wouldn't bet on RC, with only 2 to back the odds are too short and it really is a 50/50 bet.

I am confused by the question. What has England got to do with the Ryder Cup apart from it being only one of the many countries in a European team?
Or does "England" mean Europe just as it means Great Britain now? ;)

It does look like England will make up the bulk of the team. Obviously, Monty's picks won't be English though.
Oh and Great Britain IS England, with a few smaller parties along for the ride. :p

Havent bet on the Ryder cup, the odds never make it worthwhile unless lumping huge sums of money on it and Im not prepared to risk that.

I do like a bet, but I will only bet with my head be it football, golf, horses, whatever.

As for English golfers, lately I have had nice touches on Westwood, Rose & Casey.

I don bet that often , but when i do I look at form and who's been finishing strongly the last few weeks. Someone like Kucher, Haas, Overton, who's having a solid season but not won yet.

I guess we put money on the "non" english players as Casey. Donald, Westwood et al have always flattered to deceive in the big one's.

I had a punt on Jin Jeong for a top 10 in the open after watching him putt the lights out of it at the Amateur Golf Championship at Muirfield. Got him at 17's on betfair, but he just missed out on a top 10 place !!!
