Short game for me.

TBH it is not so much improving it but to try and make myself more confident to take on the more challenging shot which i know i can play instead of playing something like it and making a mess of it.

Hang on a minute! Can this be the same Screwback that played at Goswick for the vanquished Scotland team??? 10 yards off the green and pulls out a lob wedge and gives it full beans to within about 6 ft, from a nice tight links lie too! :)

Probably iron play.

You can smack a 4 iron off the tee, what 200 yards onto the short stuff, a mid iron onto the green, par 4 obviously. 2 putt, par everytime. Game would be a piece of cake.

Don't even need to be a good putter. Allow 36 putts per round, which is easily achievable.

Scratch player instantly!!

Or, being a 300 yarder off the tee with an awesome short game.

But I know which looks glam and which is more likely to get the result.

So for me, on balance, iron play wins it.

Putting for me ,i miss to many 2 to 3 foot putts with the blade wide open, probably due to a lack of concentration.

Arrange a round with Bobmac Steve, one round (and the purchase of the obligatory v-easy) simply transformed my putting! :D

Have a Sky Dish Phil don't need another TV ariel :D :D :D,getting one as soon as the snow goes from our pro.

None of those, I've got it all. Except in medal. It's a mental thing (in so many ways). For me, the bit I need to change is me. Bugger.

Bunkers are the bane of my golfing life. But for sand-traps, I'd be a 15 handicapper!!

But surely, if your tee or iron play didn't put you in the things in the first place.................... :p

Funny thing is, I don't actually hit that many bunkers. Problem is that I can easily take three or four blows to get out of one when I do!

Putting. I'm not greedy one putt less per round and that's one shot off my handicap. You can improve all of the others but the only shot that counts is last one at each hole and invariably that's a putt.

Shark

My bunker play is very poor for a 14 handicapper, but ideally you don't see the sand too often.

My driving is generally decent; my iron play has improved since buying some half decent sticks; but I tend to throw caution to the wind a little which can be costly at times

My short game is good when i'm on my game, but if not played for a wee while, could be all to pot. Playing often / practice is the key, but not always easy with her indoors & 2 young girls. When it all comes together .... :)

I'd like to hit 340yd drives down the middle of every fairway (but not if they are only 200yds long obviously!)
From the perfect position every time the whole game will become somewhat easier.

OR

One putt every green. Then I'd just concentrate on getting on the putting surface and not trying to land everything right next to the pin.

Chipping and pitching no question. Turning 3 shots from the fringe into 2 and cutting out the silly duffs and thins that cost even more.

I'm with MashieNiblick on this one. 12 months ago i would have said driving but a change with my swing has got me hitting 50% of the fairways this year, which for my h/c (25) I'm very happy with. I'm a reasonable putter but the amount of times i take 3 shots from 30 yards is down to my poor C&P.

I agree with Murph on this all the way. In roll ups and such like I can play well below handicap, but give me a card when it really counts and I go to pieces. :o

Give me the mental strength and confidence every time

I put too much pressure on my approach play because of my relatively poor putting.
I managed to drop 3 putts per round last year, if I can knock a couple more off this year I'd be delighted.

I voted for driving. I know you drive for show and putt for dough but I wont be putting for much dough when every tee shot goes 40 yards to the right of the intended target.
