I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Yabba Dabba Doo ! 🄳
Today, for the first time, I scored under 50 strokes over 9 holes and racked up 28 (twenty-eight!) net points - even though it didn’t feel like it at all! 😳
If that had been a handicap-relevant round, I’d have a new HC of 44 (forty-four!!!)! 😱
Yeah, there were a few (really!) good shots, but also a lot of topped ones again. šŸ˜”
But apparently, at least they rolled somewhat! šŸ˜‡
Let’s see how many of those I can salvage for the tournament on Wednesday evening ! šŸ˜–šŸ™šŸ¤žšŸ™„
But right now I feel anything but great ... ! 😁

Considering I had a severe dose of the "lefts" with the driver, to sign for 31 points is a bit of a result to be honest...
The wi d is due to pick up over the next few days...some holes are going to be virtually unplayable with the rock hard ground....
At least it's entertaining...

I did this a few years back and ironically it was a guy in American golf that told me what i was doing wrong. I went in to actually look at putters and told the guy why. He looked at me putting and said ā€œa new putter will not solve thatā€. He said ā€œme looking up at the ball rolling pulls the left shoulder up and pulls the puttā€. I just couldn’t work it out and it was killing me. Massively helps to keep looking at where the ball was for a Second once it has been hit.
Weird that. Looking up cause me to miss right with a push.

played on Sunday; last-minute decision to go out at 4:45 pm, busy but moving along nicely, tried some new things with my driving swing, to mixed results, at some point I started to slice again from the driver down to my 4hybrid..so trying to change something in my driver swing mucked up everything else lol,

thru the 8th felt like there was a lot of space between everyone, but by the green on the 9th, looking over to the 10th tee, there were loads of 3 and 4 balls teeing off. I was never going to get the back 9 in before it gets dark, so I decided to play the front 9 again, no one out on the front 9 with the sun setting, which was a great feeling

This time I decided to try half power/slower swing shots and instantly shot a long straight 3 wood 180 yards, perfect yardage, normally I'd hit a hybrid full power to get half the distance and probably not straight, interesting...

So on the par 5 got the driver out and, boom, slower swing - right out the middle of the club for the first time since I got the g430 (due to coming over the top a bit on my swing I'd hit the heel 90% of the time) baby fade 260 yards. lovely.
Next hole almost drove the green, slow swing out the middle; baby fade 30-yard chip on a 2-putt for par.
Then from then on, every iron, wood and hybrids shot was slow swing, and I was getting normal distances, driver about 20 yards more than avg, straight, with half the effort, whilst this was great, one thing let me down, my alignment was a little off, shooting perfect distances to the green but going left, which never happens as i always miss right, so really decent day and when I try and fix my allignment things could all tie together. Looking forward to next time I go out :)

Gleneagles (Kings) here we come!
Playing with my 2 brothers but not til 3.10.
Out for breakfast soon then pick up the hire car, get to course at about 1 oclock, quick snack then head to practice area.
Cant wait! šŸ¤£šŸ‘šŸ‘
Just a quick update, wont bore you with too much detail.
Course fantastic, views stunning and we all visited loads of bunkers!
We preferred Kings to the Queens course, although Kings was a tough walk!
We got wet on the 4th and 5th and a bit on the back 9 but it didnt spoil our round.
Was great to spend that time with my brothers in beautiful surroundings to boot!

So today was my fuddle KO, and after a bit of discussion a decision was made to play off yellows. Basically because the rest of the fuddle was. Not gonna lie it was a game I wasn’t really looking forward to. The guy can be a bit me me me. Between us it was ok. Don’t get me wrong he was me me me. But I was kinda forewarned. He played off 8 and me 17. None of us ripped the course to bits. Re the fuddle score I shot 33 him 32. He was 1 up coming down the 18 and dropped a 3 ft putt with the last shot of the game to halve the hole and win 1 up. At one point I was 2 up and don’t ask me why I went for the hole on a par 3 and put it in the pond. It was a hole I had a shot on. Not looking at the card cost me.
It was a strange one, I hit some rubbish shots and some beauty’s.When they were rubbish, I never had a reason why it was rubbish. It was just rubbish. But every bad shot he hit.And he hit a few bad uns, there was always a reason why. And nine times outta 10. It was the Courses fault. 😳

It's not often you can say a 9 hole practice round is memorable, but this one was!

Playing the back nine, I open with a very nice up-and-down par chipping over a bunker to one foot. 11th hole, playing downwind and downhill, I pure a 3 wood around 240 yards to the middle of the fairway, leaving only a wedge in. Unfortunately I duff the first attempt a little bit, so I throw another ball down to have another go - striking it much better this time. "That's better" I thought, and started wandering down. As I get the near the green, I can't see it anywhere... It's only gone in the bloody hole! Mulligan eagle! A Mulleagle perhaps? šŸ˜† I didn't even see it go in!

Not only that, but after a few more holes of practically playing two-man scramble with myself, I managed to legitimately birdie the 17th & 18th holes - with a 15-foot putt on 17, and a 100-yard approach stuck to one foot on 18.

Eventful to say the least!

When I played in my KO today, we have a 155 yd down hill par three.pond to the left. My opponent put his ball 10 yds from the pin. About five yds off the front. I hit a six iron and it was as sweet as I have ever hit. It bounced five yards short of the green. Hit a massive bounce and was 40 yds from the pin. My chip ended up 12ā€ from the pin. I cannot repeat his language. He duffed his chip and shot a four. He was steaming. ā€œ That’s the third ********** time you have done thatā€ he said. It was.

I play lots of opens and I like to have a moan when clubs do a bad job of the organising; so it's only fair when I also praise good organisation...
Four of us played Wakefield Golf Club yesterday. There was someone on the door to welcome us and point us towards the complimentary tea and coffee, he also explained the format and told us where to check in and collect our cards. Another great welcome from the guy in the pro shop as we registered. They had a starter who told us all the usual stuff plus gave us a couple of playing tips on some holes (we were all first time visitors). They had ball spotters out on one hole with a blind tee shot. Halfway house was open, course was in fantastic condition, and the bar staff were really friendly. They have results of all their previous opens on their website so I expect the results of this one will also appear soon.
All in all, I couldn't fault it. Well done Wakefield!
I lived very near there when I was primary school age - Sandal Primary.
Locals only ever called it "Woodthorpe" to distinguish it from the Wakefield Muni which we called "Lupset".

I only played it once back then. Dad, older brother and me played at Barnsley Municipal.

Played yesterday with the youth.

Scores all over the place - birdies to quads - absolute carnage.

On the positive the Ping G430 driver I bought is a massive improvement on my old Cobra. Jamie has used it a few times and loves it - so he's now on the hook for a brand new G440 with a tipped shaft after going for a fitting on Monday night.

Played in the Tuesday swindle yesterday won by one of the usual suspects with 41 points.

Hollow cored tine holes still giving us the laughs, one 3 ft putt missed the hole by 18 inches after hitting one of the holes.

Game still getting a bit better every time I play 33 points yesterday but still dropping too many shots on the greens due to the tined holes.

Handicap still on the rise - up another shot after yesterday, my highest handicap since the first year I joined the club 40 years ago.

Out with Fragger and CVG this morning...bloomin' cold!!
Signed in for GP cards, teed off, got to the green and....they'd been spiked.....putting was a complete lottery...so we didn't score and got the cards deleted when we got in....
So we just played a social without scoring.... Temperature warmed up but the wind...jeez the wind...
