I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

36 points this morning at the home course. A mixture of main and winter greens as they have started hollow coring.

Played well, but was annoyed at missing a couple of very short putts. I guess if that's all I've got to moan about, things can't be too bad :)

Ooh, I had a shocker today, a shocker of epic proportions!
18 points in 18 holes.
Not a good day .............................. but the weather was nice!

Played 10 this morning. Rusty, so rusty. I was pulling things to start off with. Gradually started getting a better tempo and by the end my driving and fairway woods were spot on.

Chipping was very mixed, not surprising. Putting was woeful. That's what a month without playing and no practice does for you 😄. Good to get this out of the way and I will practice my putting before next weekend 🫣.

Weather was glorious, it was good to be out.

Played the men’s medal this morning. Shot a reasonable 78 which was an improvement on Wednesday’s 82. But this may sound mad, I changed my shoes for this round. The Wednesday round left me crippled. My legs were stiff up the calves and thighs front and back were tight .. which then migrates to lower back. Today I wasn’t too sure as I was still feeling it. But a change of shoes and trolley seems to have worked, I am not in discomfort and managed to play the 18 holes with no degradation ( apart from putting 🤣) … so Sketcher slip ons are not for me !!!

Some good today and some bad. I’m tinkering yet again and I “found” a new feel on Trackman last night that I continued to try today on the course. When it worked it was really, really good but also some pretty terrible shots as well when I don’t quite commit to it.

Anyway, ended up 7 over with another 2 doubles (one a 4 putt 😂) and several missed putts in the 5-8 foot range. Frustrating on the course but the weather was beautiful. Hope there is more of it to come.

Played yesterday in our end of (winter) season society competition. Played terrible, total dross with the occasional good shot and managed 2 pars. In the evening we had our prize giving and presentation of the blue jacket. Meal with a band (one member is a drummer) and one of the barmaids did a set as well for free. Great evening with 60+members and partners.

St Patrick's Day comp today which was a two man scramble off red tees, interestingly. I was expecting nice weather but it was bloody cold and foggy when we started. Shotgun start and we started on the 7th which is one of the hardest holes so we started with a bogey. Missed a very presentable birdie putt on the 9th, but they'd done green maintenance in the week so they were sandy and a bit unpredictable. Further bogeys on the 14th and 16th put us 3 over gross but our team handicap was 3 so we were net level.

The sun came out and suddenly it was roasting, it was like a different round. We went on a great run, with birdies on the 2nd, 4th and 5th which put us gross level. Unfortunately we three-putted our very last with a sneaky breaking three-footer that squirmed away on the sandy green.

Gross one over for net 2 under. Felt we played really well bar the two missed putts, but in the end we finished 15th, five shots behind the winners. Oh well, that's scrambles for you! 😂 It was lovely to see a bit of sunshine and some roll on the fairways for once.

A friendly knock at Ferndown today. Not been there for a few years but always a pleasure to go there. Greens a bit iffy due to greens maintenance but managed a 3 over 74. A couple of 3 putts and two pushed tee shots the only really bad shots of the day. They have built a new ditch in front of the 7th green which I’m not too sure about. If it’s to drain water then OK, but if it is for some other reason I can see some older members not being too happy.

Out early to get to the turn before 8.30....an oldies vs ladies match or something.....
Started with a 3 putt bogey and thought.. here we go....3 more bogeys in the next 4 holes didn't change much...
Then I rattled off 9 pars and a birdie on the bounce...
Very annoying double on our 16th hole - twice I've been in the fairway bunker recently and made double....
1 more bogey and I'm signing for a +6, 37 points and 77 blows.....
0.4 cut and a very happy camper..apart from the double

The Caversham on Saturday, I wasn't looking forward to it as I've completely lost my swing, I was hoping my short game would save me. I found a swing thought right at the end of a range session on Friday night, and my long game wasn't that bad! However my short game was abysmal, if not worse than abysmal.

Fist ever round at my new club as a member and my 2nd time on any course since November. Played with the guys in the roll up they had on this morning. No need to book tee times just rock up and join in. I didn’t partake in the roll up as want to just get rust off for a couple of weeks and they let you join in for free without pressure to compete and just to welcome new people.

Also my first go out using ShotScope, took some getting used to tagging shots but once I found a simple way to incorporate it was really easy to do. It also confirmed what I already know I’m crap with my current driver 😂. Fairways hit % for 18 holes was 29%, only 1 of those was with the Driver and I mishit that out the toe fortunately I hit it so wide on some occasions I had shots into greens, the only other fairways I did hit were with the 5wood. I just can’t get settled with the driver at address, takeaway and swing feels like a bag of spanner’s with it to. Can’t wait for the new one and mini to arrive tomorrow with the shorter shafts will hopefully help resolve that especially at set up.

Despite my driving woes I missed 6 good putts at birdie the most annoying at the 2nd hole where I put an 8 iron to 5 feet and managed to horseshoe the putt. Then on the 18th pulled my drive left but got lucky with the lie and managed to hit a 7iron Seve would be proud of over the trees onto the front edge of the green about 50feet short of the back flag, followed that with an absolutely horrendous putt that I completely misread and rammed 8feet past and also missed the return putt. All in all got sum rust off to and can’t be unhappy even with that 3 putt at the last I had 15 pars, 3 bogies and a +3 gross.

Most importantly I met some really nice people, had a coke on the veranda with them afterwards and now sat here going down the shot scope rabbit hole 😂
