Played at Moortown today in the English Golf senior series, hosted by old forum member Lincoln Quaker, i was very inconsistent, especially my normally reliable drives, I didnt have a 2 point hole until the 13th, just a mixture of mostly 1 points with four 3 pointers, finished with just 29 points. Despite a mixed round I did enjoy the course.

Played today and started with a lovely shank, double bogey......played the front nine the worst I have played for ages, 14 points.

Got to 2 under on the back nine but finished bogey bogey for 19 points.....playing off 3 sucks.

33 points is not going to win anything.

On Thursday a guy had 29 points and was cut point one......plays twice a week, what does that say about this handicap system.

Had a knockout match against a 10 handicapper today. (I'll put the rest in spoilers in case you'd rather read it in the matchplay thread which will be arriving later.)

Started two down after two (but to two pars in fairness), but I played well after that and kept chipping away. Battled a big left miss with driver on a few holes. Ultimately I put myself in the driving seat, 1 up with three to go, and 16th is a shot hole - made an absolute cock-up of that to lose it, then went 1 up again on the 17th.. and FOUR-PUTTED the 18th to finish all-square. Honestly, what the hell was I doing? We then went to a play-off and I lost that on the second hole. I played generally well, scrambled really well on some holes too, but just an epic bottlejob at the end. Pathetic. Gross score was around 83/84 so really not too bad, and it was a great match in all fairness - plus it didn't rain, surprisingly. But I am currently eating a whole bag of Wispa Bites to myself and sulking.

Invitation Day at Bamburgh Castle today.

Played here once before, 4 or 5 years ago, was blowing a gale, didn’t enjoy it.

Benign conditions this morning, couple of brief showers apart. Played well and really enjoyed the course. The views of course are fabulous. Finished birdie, birdie which was very nice.

Food in the clubhouse afterwards was also top class and reasonably priced.

A great day out.

Finished 14th place out of 124 entrants in today's medal board comp.
Had a counting score dropping off and beat it by one shot. A cut of 0.1 may occur.
Second lowest gross score, but no prize for that.

This is odd, in a way.
124 club members and the one who shot the second best score does not get a prize.
But the chap who went round in 22 over par gets 4th place prize.

I played today in 1st round of club championships.

Shot 76 (+6), off 5. I was 4th in the nett, 9th in the gross when play was suspended and subsequently abandoned. Around 60 players completed, 40 left to come in. Competition is reduced to 18 holes to be played tomorrow.

Battled hard, +5 at the turn and comfortably aboard the bogey train. Managed to play the final 6 holes in -1.

Will have to do it all again tomorrow…

Garbage again, maybe just need to accept this is my new level. Shot +11 with 8 3 putts. Was 1 of 8 from between 3 and 6 foot and the greens were not to blame.

Much better today after Thursday’s lesson, score ruined by a couple of blow up holes, one due a massive brain fade and the other I just compounded one bad shot with another - if I can keep the practice up then things are looking up!

My main problem was making no putts of note. Missing all birdie putts inside 10 feet and throwing in 2 to 3 3 putts a round.
Decided I would concentrate on a more forward ball position today.
Only holed one mid length putt. Holed out well from 4-8 feet. Would have missed all those of late. Pace putting was excellent and no 3 putts.

Change something. 8 3 putts is a killer. Best of luck lad.

Strange game golf went out yesterday couldn't hit the ball and had a 93.

Went out on my own today on my own to work out what went wrong hit a 73. Different tees but still bizarre.

Inevitably, I chopped it today.

I was +1 through 7 and had a GIR on 8… and I finished +15

I hit 1 bad putt on 8, and 1 fat shot a wettish lie on the fairway on 9, and every aspect of my game just disappeared. I lipped out for eagle on 2, and nearly birdied 3, 4 and 7… And then made 1 par in the final 11 holes.

County champs being played at the course has helped me out, PCC of 2 and a 0.8 cut to 9.1

32 points at the magnificent Dunbar yesterday. Over 20 years since last here, I'd forgotten what a great course it is. It is in excellent condition, playing with a member helped. Even got the same ball round.
