I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

I just had base layer, polo, gilet and woolly hat this week when the met office had it as feels like -1C. The other week when it was feels like -6C I had a jumper on as well, that did feel cold. Could barely feel my nose, cheeks and chin by the end.

Totally agree about heat, no way I could play in 40C. Anything over 30C and I'm looking for shade.
I think the hands are the main thing for me. Back in the days before I had the FootJoy Wintersof gloves, my hands would get too cold so I couldn't feel them and it was kind of impossible to play. Those gloves are great though, plus I got electric rechargeable hand-warmers for Christmas, so with them in the gilet pockets I was sound.

I bought a pair of trolley mitts this winter and they have been brilliant. Also got the hand warmers that I chuck in the mitts.

Tipped it down last night, had a feeling the course would be closed as a result, but no, it was open.

Unsurprisingly it was very wet, and a real slog. It was still raining when we started, stopped after a few holes, but was pretty cold. We lasted 12 holes and decided to call it a day. No fun trudging round in that.

Played our mid week comp and shot 6 over par, could not hole a birdie putt but hit the ball great, plus we had a lovely cool day 25C.

Crazy game as I putted fantastic last Saturday and today the putts looked good but would not drop, can only think what this does to the Pro's when it happens to them.

Mid week comp today played pretty well for the first 12 holes but tossed off a few bogeys in the final few holes to throw away what, under the conditions, would have been a great score. Ended up with 34 points which was good enough for 3rd place. Realised that I've played 4 comps so far this year and have finished 4th, 6th, 8th and 3rd and on balance have played pretty solidly. The benefits of retirement and being able to hit the course two or three times a week is definitely showing.

A round where it all came together, still felt like I was steering the driver but shot my lowest round on the home course of +2 72. Everything was simply tidy.

Mentally I felt in a different place for all 18 holes, didn’t overthink each shot, just pre shot routine, get comfortable and swing.

Here’s hoping for some more low 70’s and mid 70’s being the norm!

Even though I think I have finally started playing better again....I've cancelled this morning round and not planning on playing until Wed when things finally warm up a bit. Just back from a walk......1.6C with mist and trying to snow.

Out at first light with little chubby Bro
Weather was looking decidedly iffy, so decided to just play 9.
Happy with the way I played, just 1 net bogey for 20 points,
Think I just pipped him , but his excuse will be that he wasn’t keeping score today.

Was a good call to just do 9
As we came off, it started getting damp and windy

Oh yes

Got 19 points ;)

Course had been closed all week, it rained overnight. 7.20am, notification comes through, course open 😳. We took a collective decision to stay out of the comp, do a shortened round, the drier parts of the course, and it was spot on.

I concentrated on trying to swing easy today and it worked very successfully. Struck the ball well, lovely and straight. 12 holes was definitely enough, the mizzle came down as we walked down the 18th and has stayed since. 27 points from 12, very happy.

Temp was at real feel of 42 today
I was wringing just from warm up and other players were worse than me

Thank goodness for ice bucket on the cart
We're near drought conditions but luckily it rained last night making the fairways softer

Dunno what I'm gonna do with horse riding lessons for my prize though

Forecast was for sleet and snow this morning, so dropped out last night. Weather this morning- no sleet, no snow. 😟
We didn’t cancel thankfully as the weather was probably the best weekend for a while. No wind, slight mist/drizzle now and again.

I started poorly, no warm up and too many layers. Was +4 after 4 but started to play really well and ended up +3 for the round. Also missed 3 birdie putts from 4, 6 and 8 foot. Wedges were good, I think the Trackman time is paying off.

As for our doubles match my team got hammered again, this time 6&5. We didn’t play that bad, level par between us after 13 while the other two were -6.

Absolute cobblers, wasn't it? I woke up expecting to see a white out. Even last night's 10.30 news forecast was showing snow overnight.
Massively annoying. Had a few drinks last night as was convinced the weather was going to be awful. Couldn’t believe it when I woke up to just another dull day. Was half tempted to get in the car, but sensibly resisted the temptation.

Played terrible this morning. Jebus was it cold though, just could not get my irons going.

Luckily my partner was playing alright and we managed to take the cash game 2&1 on the 18th.

Revenge from a few weeks ago when they pumped us 3&2.

Lovely fish and chips in the clubhouse after and picked up a nice FJ gilet in the pro shop so the day wasn’t a total bust.

No idea what was going on with the irons but so many were, shall we say, low down on the grooves.
