Sounds like a tough day! I hope you had words with the group infront?
No. In fairness after being held up for a few holes, we would have a ball search or something that put space between us before catching them up again. At one stage my mate lost his ball, walked back to where he hit it from, we let a two-ball through us (who then finished on the next hole anyway), then finished the hole, and we had already caught the four ball in front after two more holes.

4BBB Comp today, I was absolutely useless, probably the worst I’ve played in years😂😂 No idea why, but these days happen🤷‍♂️

Anyway I contributed 11 of our 39 points and 6 of those were off 2 birdies, leaders sitting on 47 pts.

Entered a large board medal competition today. Was feeling a bit sore all over, not sure from what. So warmed up with stretching of the leg muscles and eased into few 9 irons then proceeded to work through the bag.
Shot a 78, 3 shots under I think, it was of the black tees .. further back with no danger of entering a score wrecking fairway bunker.
I think 4th overall, and 4th in division… rolled some nice putts in but definitely have scope for improvement

Just a club stableford today, glad it wasn’t anything serious. Wasn’t particularly bad, but just very scrappy. Missed too many greens and didn’t get up and down so left myself with a lot of tap in bogeys.

83 on the card for 29 points.

Played in the 2nd round of a 36 hole over two days at Tain, just for handicap, can't win anything or qualify for the next Knock out section. Hit it ok, greens were a bit on the slow side, hard to get the ball to the hole. Probably due to some warm weather and sun this week. Shot 73 gross, but again a couple of silly mistakes, should have been closer to level if I'm honest. Hit my irons well, probably as well as I have for a while.

Lancashire senior ladies championship today at Pleasington, it started so well, I parred the first 3 holes, should have parred the 4th too but 3 putted, sadly 3 putted the next too, the next half dozen holes were ok but included another two 3 putts and then I came to the par 5 12th, I hit 2 decent shots but then as I took a club out of my bag for my 3rd shot, somehow my putter came out too and hit my ball which moved, I thought it was 2 penalty shots (was only one when we checked) and my head went I ended up 4 putting the green in frustration for a 9, that was effectively the end of my round as I prompted 3 putted the next three holes in frustration.
I was actually pleased with how I played, which far better than recent rounds. The pace of play was very poor, although we were about the 4th group out, it took over 4 hours and a group a couple behind us came in about 20 minutes after the group in front.

A few words about Pleasington, which is a course I have always enjoyed playing, the greens were disappointing, they had a lot of tramlines and were quite bare in places. There has also been a lot of changes to the course, some of which are ongoing, I thought that although they maybe improved the look of the course they took away some of the challenges. Also the red tees have been move quite a bit forward on some holes, which although they do make the holes easier, again take away some of the challenge which was one o the things I like about the course.

Nice casual knock around sittingbourne & Milton Regis, quirky little track but in very good condition.

My level of golf was worse than normal, but the company was great and we were finished before the rain. That’ll do.

Played today for the first time in a week after being up north. We came off after 13 holes as the rain was biblical and the greens were flooded and unplayable. Will try again tomorrow in the seniors competition.

Team open at Hexham today. Remarkably, we stayed largely dry, despite the forecast of some serious rain dumps. Maybe they happened nearby but they didn't land on us 👍. Lovely course, well worth playing if anyone is visiting Northumberland. People tend to fixate on the coastal courses up here but the likes of Hexham shouldn't be ignored.

The course played long, it's a tough course already. Drove well, hybrid was on form, short game, including wedges, were disappointing. You can't afford that here. Ah well.

Best 2 from 4 was the format, I contributed on 7 holes. Respectable enough in the end.

For those that monitor this stuff, £20 for the open. Bargain.

Got out for 18 with a pal once the little ones were down (love a summer night) and broke 80 for the first time since July last year at my home course.

Drove it really well again which is promising after really struggling with it for a while now. Have got my little fade back after spending a year hitting draws that all too easily became hooks.

Round in two hours and in just before it got dark. Put a card in as well so expecting a nice 0.5 cut to get me back in the 12s.

Had a knock at St Anne’s Old Links with Glyn last night.

Unbelievable how the course has been ravaged by the winter we have just had. I really feel for them.

Lovely course with some cracking holes. Didn’t do it any sort of justice though.

4 birdies and missed a few more, 2nd place @ Belton Park, course in stunning condition SUNDAY 5th May.

First ever cut in a pairs comp, looks like the new system is working. 30pts for 12 holes :) better golfing.

I played it the other week and it was comfortably in the worst condition I've ever seen it in - still head and shoulders above most local courses though.

Typically, on a day where the bunkers were GUR I didn't go in a single one 😂.

Just had a really good driving range session, which is rare. Not least because the weather is currently fantastic, which is even more rare.

I watched this video that was posted in another thread this morning - it's nothing new, it's obviously the Zen Golf / GRF, Robin Mathews-Williams stuff that came out a while ago. I'm not looking to change my swing and start hitting it without looking, but it did resonate with me. I've sort of tried the technical stuff and it just never sits well with me. I think my goal for the rest of the year is going to be to try and make my swing smoother - and the motions he does in that video for the practise swing were really nice to do in my own practise swing to give me that smooth mentality. I tried that with 50 and 7i and the results were good. Struck most of them pretty well, better than I have been on the course. 5 wood I still hit a couple of fat slices where I left the club behind a little, which is something I was doing in my round on Sunday, but the good strikes were so solid, and more importantly, very straight. I think that sort of languid, smoother backswing and transition is better for getting me turning properly through the ball and getting my weight on my lead side. And helping me relax and swing more freely rather than stiff and trying to steer it too much.

It's just a shame that this means I'll probably play crap this weekend.

Last Friday's downpour has set our place back a few weeks. 13-18 very damp, particularly 16 and 17 which should not have been open. This view might be somewhat coloured by me hitting a good second over the trees on 16, never to be seen again, presumably plugged somewhere. Then hitting a great drive down the middle of 17, again nowhere to be seen, presumably also plugged.

Doubly annoying as 33 won the roll up, and I had 30, so 2 net pars would have given me the win. C'est la vie.

Senior Stableford today. After yesterday’s downpours the course is soaked again and mud balls if you miss the fairway. Back tees I’m off 1, but senior competitions play off the tee of the day which means I have to play off -1. Five bogeys on the trot in the middle didn’t help my cause and I shot 75 for 30 points. Two three putts too from absolutely nowhere. I did manage to birdie the stroke 18 hole for only 2 points which my playing partners thought amusing.

Got out for a quick 7 holes would have been 9 but I was on a time limit and they seem to have all the roads up.
So it was a bit of a rush. 1st shot sprayed right onto the second fairway.. no problem wedge to 12 ft 2 putts and then 2nd tee was called through by two ladies. That was a toed 3 iron 170 yards into semi rough leaving 195yds to the middle. Took a 7 iron and thought I would just give this a punch out and see what I had left. Well I was in the middle of the green with 16ft to the hole and drained it for birdie.. that was very pleasing. Then stuck the ball to 2 ft on the par 3 and sunk another one. Suffice to say I carried on in much the same vein and played 5 wood off the tee to avoid bunkers etc and finished on the 7th by skimming the hole for another birdie to close out my round of -1.
Dunno what was going on maybe I just slowed my back swing down and kept my balance the ball was spinning nicely and the putter was okay with 11 for 7 holes.
I do wish it would continue!

Rammel, summed up by my effort on the 10th. Lost my drive massively OOB. Smashed my provisional. A PP found my first. promptly smashed my provisional OOB, that was lost.finished the hole with the first ball I lost for a Nine.
Not getting drives away.
Short game is shocking. But it’s good company.
