Seniors match at Whittlebury Park. Had a good close match, we went 1 down after the first hole, kept pulling it back to level but couldn't get ahead, until the 15th when we went one up and then halved the next three to win 1 up.
Unfortunately the team lost 6.5 to 1.5

County Junior Patrons 4BBB today at Hartlepool GC, nice dry course, not in too bad condition, me and partner played well scoring 35pts of 7 & 8 respectively.
Event was won with 46pts by 2 guys off 16 & 18.
So was that a Q Comp with 36pts being 'Playing to H/cap'?.... Looking like one of those scores we're trying to get away from

Been picked for our Hillman Trophy team this weekend (a berks, Buck, Oxon golf union annual knockout). Been a member of the club for around 25 years over two spells and never been picked so proud of my recent form. The eureka swing seems to be making a difference and a mediocre swing day last week yielded 33 points. Playing at a course called Theale just off the M4. Never played there but doesn't look the best club ever (apologies to anyone who is a member but that is just first impressions from the website). Anyone played it. Good bad, indifferent and anything to look out for

My bad run is continuing, foursomes yesterday, a qualifier for a county event which me and my partner usually do well in, it started reasonably but blobs on 5 and 8 meant we only had 12 points at the turn, but thing got worse, a 4 putt and a few 3 putts and we only scraped 9 points on the back nine. At least we were as bad as each other.
We have a shield match this morning, I hope i can find a spark to change things around.

Not 100% sure mate, but afterwards in the bar some of the guys who’s pair had scored 41 points or more were getting emails from Golf Genius asking them to verify their score. I and others below that never received an email.
Just checked the “winners” playing record on EG and as yet the scores are not showing.🤷‍♂️

Only played it once, a friend played it the other week - ok condition, greens good but they they are doing quite a lot of work to the course, from memory it's a quirky design.

So another matchplay today in the county handicap shield, I was playing a lady I know who is very steady and I was giving her 7 shots, she stuck her tee shot on the par 3 first to 2 feet to start with a birdie and then had 3 shot holes in the next 4 and although i didn't play them too badly, she was steadily getting bogeys and so I was 4 down after 6, I did manage to peg a few back and was only 1 down after 12, but then she had shots on 3 of the last 6 holes and I so I was soon 3 down and finally lost 3&2, happily the team won the match 3-2.
I did happily see some improvement today and I did hit a few greens from way ou twith woods which is encouraging. Onwards and upwards.

Had a round with my wife today at Thorney Park. Bit of a random choice, but I used to play there a few times years ago and thought it would be quite a gentle course for her, not very hilly at all - she hadn't played in quite some time. It was an absolute waterpark, with puddles on fairways and greens, I was stunned it was open when I saw it to be honest, but just about playable.

My front nine was pretty eclectic, I'd managed six pars in the first eight holes, including 5 in a row from the 4th to the 8th. Just a shame the other two holes were a double and a triple, and then I promptly lost my ball from the tee shot on the 9th when it caught a tree and I didn't see where it ended up. So 18 points on the front. Struggled for a while on the back nine then, couple of bogeys and doubles, before adding two much-needed pars on 16 and 17 and a bogey to finish. Ended up on 86 gross with 34 points, which I was pleased with overall. My driving was back to it's best near enough, no hooks just a pretty consistent fade like the old days! 67% fairways hit.

My wife played well considering how long since she'd played (and was slightly hungover after a work event yesterday!). She was great on the par 3s, bogeying all of them. Struggled more on the long holes but that's normal for her. Once again she drove the ball better when she switched from her driver to using mine. 😂 121 gross and 28 points for her, which I think was a decent return.

Out for 10 holes this evening, uninterrupted golf as single as the sun goes down is just a lovely place to be.

Seemed to find something with the driver, which was a bit of a relief. Approaches weren’t great which led to a few bogeys, but birdied the 10th do finish 4 over for the 10 holes. Out front 9 is much harder than the back so was pretty happy overall.

My last medal round today at Westerham and have been worried about playing a qualifier as a counting 84 was dropping off, and I've been having mixed success recently in non-qualifying rounds and don't want to go up.
Birdied the first! Never do that!
Then went double, double and was a little grumpy.
Things seemed to click back in after that and had two more birdie putts come up fractionally short or shave the hole. Out in 41.
Started back nine par, par, and then a couple of bogeys pegged me back a little. Then again, things started going well and finished with an outrageous birdie on 17th and a shaved birdie putt on 18th. In all, 3 birdie putts on the back nine came up a fraction short or shaved thr holes.
Back in 38, and a 2 under handicap 70, with a score diff of 6.0! Should be a little cut in the offing.
Ended up 4th though, sadly, as a 66 (off 4) a 67 (off 6) and a 69 (off 10) decided to rain on my parade!

Currently in a weekend away with a couple of friends.
Played the Oxfordshire on Thursday which is a nice track but was boggy.
Played Pine Ridge Friday and the West course at Wentworth.
Played Silvermere yesterday and the West again.
Playing the West for the last time today.
Cracking track greens are a different level to anything I’ve ever played on.

Course was closed yesterday morning but got opened around 11am. We played on the Trackman in the morning, I shot a cool 103 around Muirfield Village and was in the water on every hole and got stuck in some trees for 8 shots on a hole. Think we need to learn how to use the thing. 😁

In the afternoon the wife went out with the boy and her mum and as she was giving me a list of things to do her mum said “why don’t you let him go play golf since the course was closed this morning”. While giving her mum daggers she said “ok, go play if you want to” so obviously I was nearly out the door before she even finished the next sentence.

Proceeded to play as well as I did on the sim with a quad and 2 trebles on the card to shoot my worst round since last June with an 87. Played with 2 other lads I know so stuck a card in, goes to 84 with net double bogey adjustments. Really need to sort my irons out, driving was good again but irons right now are a disgrace.

Early one this morning for my first 18 on my home course since October last year. Started steady away but had a quad on the 5th after carving my drive into the gorse and not doing much better with my second.

Finished with an 82 which I was pretty happy with all things considered. Bar that one hole my driving was great, irons so so but didn't need them much as its a short course.

Biggest plus was my short game, had a lot of confidence recently so played a couple of audacious flop shots over bunkers when shortsided and left myself with tap in pars.

37 points and a 0.3 cut.

Played twice this weekend
Yesterday was like a newbie
Slices and duffs galore

Today was 'Normal' golf

How is this possible!

Highlight was driving the green on short par 4 13th for the first time in 7 years...I'll dine out on that (at home anyway)

First major comp of the year (for me anyway) - Captain's Prize which is a medal format. Started with two doubles, as per. Managed a par on the tricky 4th but things didn't really improve aside from that. By the 15th the only really positive I could take was that I'd had nothing worse than a double - then I finished triple, par, triple for good measure.

92 scored, net 79 so that's 11 over. The rough is so long and muddy that as soon as I missed a fairway I was looking at double bogey. Greens have sped up to which made chipping from the claggy rough especially difficult. I drove the ball quite apart from a shocking spell of three holes on the back nine, putted reasonably well too and somehow had a rare round with zero three-putts. But golf just feels so difficult at the moment. So demoralising.

AND it took over 4 and a half hours to get round which is a complete joke for my course.

Sounds like a tough day! I hope you had words with the group infront?
