I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

After my recent heart attack, today was my first round that I was allowed to play.

We arranged a nice friendly pairs match playing with regular playing mates. We started on the par 5 10th hole. I started birdie , bogey, par and really played well for 18 holes whilst not sure whether I was fit enough to do more than 9 holes. I am so pleased to have got that under my belt, especially considering how wet and muddy parts of the course was.

Roll on Wednesday !

Great to hear you’re back on the course in good heath Mr D. 🍺

Didn't know you'd had a heart attack Chris 😮

But good to hear you're back on the course! 🙂

Good news Chris

I hope to be back in the next week or so

Good news but please make sure you take it slowly. Remember it is always a good first round back to lull you into thinking you still have it but next time it'll be back to normal. Glad to see you on the course again

Played South Moor yesterday. A bit of a slog in the mud although there were dry bits. Carded a very acceptable 82 with 2 birdies. A tired finish saw me drop unnecessary shots late on. Fell victim (again) to the steepling dog-leg par 5 16th. For when it is, and how precise you have to be off the tee there aren't many more difficult holes I've played in my fledgling golf career. SMGC appears to be progressing with recent funding for much needed improvements, particularly planned practice facility upgrades.

Carried for 18 holes this morning. A real slog, was knackered by the end of it. 13, 14, 16-18 all sodden after overnight rain. They really should not have been open.

Carrying in this weather is not doing me any good, knees and back are aching. Went into the doctors yesterday to ask for a certificate to allow me to use my trolley. Receptionist looked at me as if I was mad, said she had never heard of such a thing before. Eventually got to speak to someone who knew the score. Need to write them a letter, bump them £35, and then wait up to 28 days for the doctor to sign something :(

I was shocked when I saw the message this morning that all 18 were open after playing Saturday and watching it rain Saturday, Sunday and yesterday afternoon.

At least you know what needs done for next winter to use your trolley.

Just do the front 9. It's the answer right now, until things pick up.

I'm sure there must be a certificate you can find online to print out ;) 😄

What a day yesterday. We made the amazing drive up through Glencoe and Fort William to Arisaig, where we played the fantastic little 9 holer Traigh, pronounced Try.

The drive itself was awesome, so similar to the drive we did to Lofoten a couple of years back. Just worth it for the drive alone.

The course is fabulous, set around a white sandy bay on the coast and plays up and a round a hill with wetlands. A tough little track with some challenging holes, especially with no card, no directions and no hole or yardage markers…. That said, it’s a brilliant little track and well worth the trek to get here.

Didn’t play my best but it didn’t matter as the whole experience was too good.

The trip was a weekend break away to Glencoe with Mrs Wedge. The clubs only got packed last minute at her suggestion and her comment after the round were “I’m so glad we brought the clubs” 😇😇
Haven't played until a couple of days ago and not looked on the thread opened it to find this. Looked up the course and I will have to try it it looks lovely. Campervan with clubs in April I reckon.

Played Sunday and Monday with my wife hitting the ball decently if not very far, first golf for a few weeks so need to get in shape.

I think they reckon they are doing us a favour by opening as many holes as possible. Either that, or they are getting pressured to do so. either way, it's a mistake.

Letter was dropped off at the surgery this afternoon. Hopefully the certificate will not take too long.

On that subject, it really is a lot of nonsense. I can guarantee I won't have to see the doctor, he will just pocket the 35 quid and sign the form.

We are open for 15 holes (1-14 and 18) and e had trolleys today and buggies with medical exemption for front 9 only. Can't help thinking this must be to pacify the seniors and 5 day members who can't carry as I can't believe it can possibly have dried out that much. Our local pay and play are still shut so it makes me wonder why we need to be

No play but a long lesson followed by an hour of wedge gapping, I’ve been working on the quality of strike and it’s thrown my yardages out big time. Still amazes me the difference strike has on distance.

7 holes today, bit a stiff breeze but first few holes for a week and a bit due to illness. Just had to get out, definitely suffering with a power loss or it felt like that. Ball started to have something peel off it which was strange but I think it had done a few rounds prior.
Went to the range afterwards just to hit some 9 irons and 7irons to get back into it. Knee is a bit of a niggle .. so need to watch that. Chipping was okay so I may have put that to bed.
Resisted offering the women at the range any advice but was disappointed they were overdressed …

Oh man....my team won the senior rollup today....plus I got a 2, so £5 there. New driver hit today for the first time. The course is desperate for a grass mow.....and another day or two would probably get the ground firm enough to start cutting. But......rain/snow/whatever falling from the skies tomorrow. I think my golf shoes are rotting...:(

Our course finally opened on Monday and I played 13 holes, I was shattered when I came off, obviously lack of golf has affected my fitness, so I played Tuesday, Wednesday and today happily my stamina is much improved. Mtygolf is a bit erratic, I had a few pars and a couple of birdies today but also 2 blobs in the weekly stableford.
