Got out for 11 holes after getting the little ones down for the night.
Started so so but then on the 15th (I played 1,2 then 10 to 18) it clicked, hybrid down to the valley, then a 140 yard 9 iron to 3 feet - birdie.
The par 3 16th required exactly the same yardage and I put it pin high and left myself a 12 footer - which I sunk for back to back birdies - something I'd never done before.
I was originally planning on calling it a night there but the 17th is a driveable par 4 so I thought there's a chance I could make it 3 in a row here. Hit a great drive (one of my best ever) and it just snuck through the back of the green at 280 yards. Thankfully it was a back pin so I just had a 20 foot chip and an up and down required for a third consecutive birdie - which I managed despite duffing my chip and leaving myself a 10 footer for the bird.
I was buzzing by now and, with light at a serious premium, I teed up down the 18th. Another great drive that unfortunately took me about 3 mins to find due to the darkness setting in. I stuck the second to about 7 foot and couldn't believe my luck. Surely I couldn't make it 4 in a row?!
I'm going to blame the lack of light at this point meaning I was unable to read the putt but in reality I think I just pulled it and this meant I was 3 inches from pulling off an incredible (for me) feat, and I had to settle for a par.
Golf is a mental game though, it felt so easy those last 4 holes but at the start I just didn't know what was going to happen when I was stood over the ball.
