The junior to have a congu affiliated HC would have had to gain the HC via a measured course and to get to four he would have had to do that of the whites

Most clubs have "blue" tees set aside for others who want to play a shorter course but it's very rare it's measured and assigned a SSS.

Karen, the point I'm making is, I play in loads of matchplay opens and the ladies always play off the ladies tees, leaving me to give hundreds and in 1 case over 1000 yards away! Whether it's right or not is another debate altogether, but, in any comp of any format I've never seen a lady play off the same tees as me or anyone else, so by that same token, a lady club scratch player would have achieved her handicap by playing off the ladies tees, no doubt the same as this junior lad may have done, and so it's not illogical to think that in the event of a scratch contest mixed with ladies and/or juniors amongst men, everyone would still play off there designated, gender/age tees.

Handicap golf is just that so you need to play from appropriate tees and/or adjust handicaps to contrive the competition. Just wondered why you were so adamant that it'd be different tees for scratch. It could be argued both ways, incidentally, but you were quite vociferous that it'd never happen so piqued my interest.

We have a 12 year old single figure player at the club and he has been playing off the whites for years - so his handicap comes with no perceived caveats.

I would be surprised if the lad mentioned in the OP played off forward tees........

It wouldn't really make sense for him to. If he was playing off 4 off the forward tees, he would still be single figures off the whites, so why would play off the forward tees?

So I'm inclined to agree that this is a total non-point.

Saw them last night and he played from the whites, and his dad said why wouldn't he?
