How slow is too slow?

We certainly didn't hold anyone up - in fact we caught up and played through the group in front of us, so maybe we weren't slow 'for that course'.

Generally I'm fairly organised; club is out before I take my shot, trolley left at the correct side of the green etc. I suppose I'll get quicker as I get better.

I always find it really interesting when the slow play topic is brought up how many people like to play as fast as they possibly can.

I don't like really slow play (i.e. 4 hrs + starts to get annoying) but I really don't get the attitude of a 3 hour 2 ball would drive some people to tears!!

If it's a nice day and I'm enjoying the company then I'd sooner be on the course for 3 hours rather than 2.

I would say playing with people who want to race round as fast as possible is right up there with slow play as far as being annoying to me as you always end up feeling really rushed and almost guilty for taking a practice swing etc.

I think, with a lot of things I suppose, there is a middle ground that people forget about.

I must add that I'm not a slow player and have played just over 2 hour 2 balls round my place but I don't see 3 hours being "slow".

I hate watching those disorganised players who try to play their shot before they get the club out. :p :p

BEHAVE Region

3-ball medal this morning (22, 25 and 28 h/c) was almost spot on 3:45, delayed a bit by the greenkeeper on two holes, and looking for balls or recovering from duff tee shots on only a few. at that the group behind were pressing a bit but as they scored less well who was right?

What gets me is this.
If a fast fourball go off in front of a slow fourball and it's quiet, will the slow fourball be forced to keep up with the fast fourball. In other words, should they have to play the same speed as the fast four ball?
No, of course not. They will play at their usual slow pace.

Why is it then that when the slow fourball get there and go off first, the fast fourball are forced to play at the slow fourballs speed.
People like do do things at different speeds. That's why we have more than one lane on a motorway.
I just wish the slower players would recognise that their fellow golfers would like to play at their own speed and simply call them through.
Everyone can then play at a speed they are happy with and there would be less stress in the 19th.

Played 18 holes today and was on the course for 3:40 as a two ball, which I think far too long! Held up by a three ball from holes 2 to 6, then one dropped out which speeded things up a bit! On the 12th the group in front of the now 2 ball, let them through as they were playing mind bogglingly slow!no chance of them doing the same for us! This resulted in our two ball taking over 2 hours to play the last 7 holes!!

I can not see why 10 minutes per hole is not achievable
