My bag as needed
My wedges as needed
Driver when I think something newer is going to perform better and the change is worth the money (since buying a Stealth head on here) same shaft on last 3 drivers.
3 wood a few years ago
Irons when I think I am not hitting them consistently or long enough any more last change was last year from a set I have owned for years although I have changed a few times in the intervening years
Same rescues for several years
Putter hardly ever.

2008 - recently: Ping G10 3&4, Ping i10 5-PW, Ping 52°W, Ram 64°W

But this year I found success with Ping G10 3&4, Ping Eye2 BeCu 5-PW, Cleveland 691 58°

Putter

I'm a strong believer in squad rotation. I don't like any of the clubs getting complacent; they all know they have to fight for their place in the bag.
Rarely play consecutive rounds with exactly the same clubs.

I like the situation I'm in now, I have 13 clubs. So if something takes my fancy I can give it a trial

This has made me think that I'm due some new irons to fit the pattern above.
I think I'll stick with the Ping G10 3&4, but replace the 5-SW. The longer irons do not show as much signs of wear.

The Ping G730 might fit the bill.

Then I will have 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, PW, UW, 50W and a SW.

No 5 or 6 iron in the bag, but the loft progression would be 21, 24, 28. 32, 36, 40, 45, 50 and 58 - exactly the same as I have now with the Eye2s.
That would appeal to my sense of fun.

Not very often - possibly would tinker more if I had more free cash but not the time in my life when I have that! Young family and all that!

Since I started playing 4/5 years ago I’ve had 3 drivers, none from new.

Used 3 wood still in the bag
2 ex demo hybrids

2 sets of irons - started with Wilson D9 and moved to Mizunos (30th birthday present) - both fitted and brand new.

2 sets of wedges - Kirkland

2 putters - Odyssey #7 and a Nike Method blade.

Depends how much I like the club really.

Driver - got a new one this year, the previous one lasted me five years. Also got a 3 wood, replacing a 5 wood that had been in the bag four or five years. My 7 wood that matched that 5 wood still remains though as I haven't seen another club that has the rails on the sole and it's such a great club that I'm sure I'll keep it a while longer yet.

My irons are two years old now but they still feel pretty new - my previous set I used for five years. Hybrid I've had nearly as long, but the previous one was only in for six months as I wasn't really getting on with it.

Wedges similar, been in nearly two years, previous ones were in the bag four or five years.

Putter has been in since February, the one before that was only a month or two as it wasn't quite right, before that had an Evnroll for two years.

I changed a lot more when I was just coming back to golf 8 or 9 years ago, as there was a good second hand store near me and I was able to move clubs on for not much less than I paid, so I chopped and changed for a while then.

My clubs are on a permanent Performance Improvement Program. Underperform and you're out, it's tough at the top 🤣

My bag has had it's biggest change in years this year.

Out: Driver, 3w, 5w, 50º, 56º and 60º wedges

In: Qi10 driver, Sim2 4w, Cleveland 52º and 58º wedges.

Result? fewer options in the bag. fewer opportunities to question myself on the shot (especially short game) and better scores.

What was claudio ranieri’s nickname, the tinker man? Thats me.

I think the longest standing club in my bag is a 58° Cleveland wedge because I just use it for greenside bunkers and nothing else. After that it’s probably my driver which I’ve had for approx 18 months. However, I have just signed a newer second hand driver, which is currently gaining match fitness and may well be selected this weekend.
