How many plus golfers at your club?

Plus golfers anywhere play a different game to me anyway but to maintain a plus handicap round Dornoch is very impressive!

One thing to consider about + handicappers is that they are VERY picky about which events they play in as a difference of .1 or .2 could mean not getting into some big events.

Also, remember that the large majority of national events, the CSS ends up being Reductions only meaning if they play bad they dont go up and if they play well they get cut A LOT!

Its rare to see someone off a + handicap playing every week in the club stableford.

None. We used to have a member years ago off +3 before he turned pro, but none now. The lowest we have now is 0. I don't think we'll get any + handicappers...as it's a tough track!

This is not my experience of the low guys up here that I know. Most tend to play in every event, you can't get cut by skipping medals.

That lot you wrote has answered a question I have had knobbing around my head for ages re why they don't play a lot of comps. We have 3 or four and watching them on the range is depressing. We have a 560 yd par five with water down the left, SI 1. One of the + guys did it in two. I have hit the green in three once 👍💪🏾 He is about as tall as an oompah lumpa. But flippin heck can he hit it. Was once stood on I think it was the 18 th raised tee ( could be wrong) at seacroft. The longest drive was the previous hole. He put his ball into a bunker and had about a 80 yd shot, he put it three foot from the pin.

None is the quick answer

Couple I know have been there before they got old etc. There are a handful on the island I believe and I hadn't thought about it but Mendies post tells us why we don't see them at weekends

Tash, I tried to buy an oompa loompa once (gotta watch that spelling they get tetchy about it) but apparently they only come in pairs (something about not being able to do that stupid song & dance if they're on their own) Anyway couldn't afford two so I need to do without

Had one off +2 a good few years ago. Being off 5 at the time and usually giving the shots it was really weird getting 5 shots in a 4BBB!!!

Currently? ...... none. We have quite a few Cat 1, lowest off 2 I think, and best lady (by a mile) is off 3.

I guess it depends on what the players aspirations etc are. The plus guys at my place play in pretty much all the comps but (at least for a couple I know) they aren't bothered about entering the big(ger) amateur events etc so aren't watching their handicap so much I guess.

Indeed no scabby round as RD you have to play well, but you do have the benifit of it being RO or Css being high so you can get a healthy cut there..... I'm told:(

Most of the guys at Nairn play every week and young Sandy (+4) played in every comp and i mean every one.

Though i suspect the away comps they may be more selective

We don't have any. They wouldn't be + for long round our place with the css being 2 less than sss. Our course record is only 6 under too so no hope for them.

Very true, and something I considered posting earlier. These guys are not your general club CAT 1's who play every medal going, these are elite amateurs who will get invites to events and will only play in events that get ranking points.

General Cat 1's yes but not + HC's. They rarely play their home course's comps, heard this from a +5 HC who plays at Glenbervie

Maybe one (lad had a go at the pro game but not getting anywhere so looking to get amateur status back). Too many (true) championship standard courses in SW Surrey / Hants / Berks for plusers to bother about our track. Though when they play it they don't in general rip it up.
